The Official Arsenal - 12 x FA Cup Winners - Thread [Vol 3]

The Carvallho talk is very wide of the mark- nothing in it apart from a very general enquiry on his availability and price. Jorge Mendes is also his agent- Wenger has a know disdain for the 'super agents' and does not enjoy good relations with any of them.
I think Wenger will wait for Khedira or go for a completely different target we have heard little about, and we will have to wait possibly until the very end of the window for this to be announced.
RM would obviously do whatever they can to sell, as next year they lose him for nothing and he's worth 15-20 million this summer.
For us this is more or less the missing piece of the puzzle- at least this summer and for the coming season. With a top class DM we can challenge, and even if we don't win the league will be assured top 3-4 finish. Without one, it will be a very hard season and we are likely to again suffer the customary Arsenal collapse, and relative struggle for 4th.
We were top of the league for a long time last season, but we shouldn't forget it was partly down to Everton's very hard fixture list and our much easier last few games that it was comfortable points wise. Before that it was anything but and we could have finished 5th, despite all the good work earlier in the year.
Centre forward wise there is little we can do- no one out there available at even remotely sensible fee/wages who could come in, replace Giroud and be a significant upgrade on him this summer.

Talk of Quintero (sp) doesn't make sense. Why go for this lad when we could have got Fabregas?
Personally, I don't think we need this type of player. I want the club to focus on the DM position and not get distracted buying players we just don't need at this time.
I think he looks like someone who can offer threat from wide positions which is why I think he maybe makes sense instead of Fabregas.....we have a ton of players that can play in the midddle of that three but nobody in my mind who is a natural on the left. Cazorla and Poldi both look like "square pegs" to me in that position. Personally, I don't think we need this type of player. That said I agree....DM has to be the priority. Seems to be speculation there are two more midfielders coming in though.
Well you can't ask for much more from a pre-season game than we got yesterday...plenty of people looking lively and putiing their hands up for first team places come the season proper. I'd read Bellerin was one of the best youth prospects but never seen him til yesterday....certainly looked very accomplished. You have to love how much Sanogo and Campbell looked like they were enjoying themselves...this time last year we had an Giroud and an injured Sanogo up front and we're trying to get Demba Ba on loan. Now we've got Alexis, Giroud, a fit Sanogo and Campbell and not being so desperate as having to keep that Bentdner.
Strongest squad in eight or nine years without a doubt.

It's only a pre season friendly kick about , these games mean nothing to anyone apart from the money men at the Arsenal & Puma of course.
Spurs beat Celtic 6-1 yesterday , that's how to do it.
Really? By the reaction on bookface and twitter today is the single.most important tournament defeat in history Spurs beat Celtic 6-1 yesterday , that's how to do it.
All good fun!
Over the two games I've been particularly impressed by Chambers. He looks very accomplished and will most likely start the season at centre half in the absence of Mertesacker.
Alexis look lively particularly in the second half when he became the main man up front. I'm happy with the contributions of Sanogo and Campbell ( who reminds me of Chris Wreh!). We need to find the right balance in midfield and I think buying the world class DM we clearly need is key to that.
When we have Walcott, Podolski, Ozil & Mertesacker I think we have a particularly strong 18.
