My moment from the highlights I saw of yesterday's game was Zelalem's pass for Akpom's penalty that should have been....he's class.

Yes indeed, it's very encouraging. Another young player with vision, should save a few bob on transfer fees. smile

Alternatively. Though hopefully that kind of joke can now be a thing of the past!

I want us to spend money where we need to not just because we can.

It's also really, really important for the fabric of the club that we bring these kids through....one of the things I love is watching them progress. Also given the need to have a "home grown" element it's key for the balance of the squad....who wants to be signing a 36yr old Chelski reject to pad the squad.

Agreed, and the reason why I was a little disapointed to see Jenkinson leave on loan, though granted he isn't actually an Arsenal youth team player. Still, hopefully he'll have a good season and come back as the player he's shown glimpses that he might become.

Looking at Bellerin, Jenks Arsenal career is over. Unless he improves massively at the hammers. I hope he does.

One thing that stuck out in my mind was Arteta is a shadow of his former self. He looked lost at times, reminded me of Parker the way he spins round in circles and passes backwards. Highlights we need a DM.

Arteta isn't a defensive midfielder. He has been asked to play in that position because we lack players to fill that brief.

If he isn't a DM then what's he still doing with us? He's a long way down the pecking order in an attacking position. I like him a lot, he's given a lot to the club, but I just don't see a place in the team for him anymore.

I think Arteta/Flamini still have something to offer....end of the day assuming we sign a DM whoever that player is can't play 50 games a year and perform at the highest level. Arteta is more than capable of playing as a DM against all but the Top 4 teams. And dare I say it we have to have cover for injuries.

Arteta has declined massively over the last year- he should not play more than a bit part for us this season, if we want to be challenging for the title that is.

Okay for some cup games/home games where the opposition defend deep, but not much more than that.

He's at the club because he's versatile. I like him, he's only been at the club 3 years but he's a good club man, a professional and has leadership qualities as well as loads of experience. I wouldn't be in a hurry to get rid of him, however we do desperately need a quality DM. I'm confident we'll fill that void before the end of the TW. We're now a more attractive proposition for players than we were a year ago.

Hi I've decided after a few years of watching football I'm going to support arsenal. What do I need to do? Buy a shirt and wear it every now and then? What's the process for watching games at the stadium?

process is that you belive all their players are amazing, even sczezny, arteta vermalen, gibbs along with wenger. you will only get to see cl games between tier 3 teams like bate, fenerbahce with atmosphere of a dead cat.

Or he can become a Red Member for £29 with red members guaranteed tickets for every home game. I got tickets for the Bayern and Napoli home games last year through it....tickets for the Bayern game sold out within half an hour of them going on sale, you just need to be organised.

You can also buy tickets off season ticket holders thoruhg the Ticket Exchange scheme. If you want to get to a match and are organised you can see every home game. I got tickets for every game I wanted lat year.

I might do this. I've always relied on mates who are STH to get the odd ticket but they don't often have spares, it's also a complete faff for me to get down there these days but I would like to get to 4 or 5 games a year if possible.

He is 100% right about paying down the stadium debt. Given the shareholders are basically two incredibly wealthy/cash rich billionaires it makes total sense for the shareholder to do it.. By doing so they'd be giving the club more money to invest in the team/squad/facilities/infrastructure. When you look at the inflation in football it's an absolutely no brainer....cost of world class players has roughly doubled in the last three years...vs having cash sat in the bank earning 0.00001%.

IIRC the debt is tied up in bonds until 2030; it'd cost a fair bit more to pay it off early. Can't see any good businessman doing that.
