Christ - if we don't sign anyone when Wenger has been in Rome all day getting ready for a charity football match then Arsenal will look a right bunch of idiots. I'm all for charity work but the timing isn't great!

Just give Akpom a go. would probably be better.

After watching yesterday though, it's not just about a decent CF. The whole team had no idea how to break a defence and just reverted back to sitting on the 18 yard box.

Think we looked better last year

From the link:

“Sport is a tool for communicating the values, which foster the good of the human beings and contribute to build a more peaceful and fraternal society. Let’s think about loyalty, perseverance, friendship, sharing and solidarity.”

qn. Pope Francis Bergoglio

These are the words of His Holiness Pope Francis, who showed for himself the intention to organize an international sporting event, which could be the occasion for the different religions of the world to meet and fraternize.

On September 1st, 2014, in Rome, the best soccer players in the world, will represent many religious faiths and will give life to the first Interreligious Match for Peace, a historic and engaging appointment , which will be based on spirituality, fraternity and sporting excellence, in the name of the dialogue among peoples for the peace in the world.

The event is promoted and organized by two associations, both active in the spread of the highest sporting values and in the concrete support to childhood and adolescence: Pupi Foundation (www.fondazionepupi.org) and Scholas Occurrentes (www.scholasoccurrentes.org).

Official then, no new signings are in the works. Extraordinary.

Just when you think the club has turned a corner it starts reversing back. I'm going back to bed ...

If it's true it really is extraordinary. Certainly the people on Twitter that seem reliable are very, very quiet.

You have to imagine that nobody is more friggin frustrated than the players.

I can't imagine the players are more frustrated than the fans who are consistently tortured by the total fking miss-management of team affairs.

I am not sure it makes a difference if Wenger is in the country or not - Regardless of where he is on the last day of transfer window I am not sure I would want any players that they are scrabbling around to try and sign in one day... surely a proper decent club will have the signings lined up and today is just about dotting ts etc.

So I will reserve judgement till the deadline has passed.. here is hoping!

I find it odd that you needed a striker and Falcao was available but apparently had no interest despite offering CL

And yet we have no offerings of CL and don't really need a striker but now have him in the team.

Or as some wag on Twitter said

Utd have signed RvP's replacement, before Arsenal have signed RvP's replacement

I find it staggering that Arsenal have not jumped in and signed someone to replace Giroud knowing he is out til Christmas ...

And Wenger is refereeing in France - more bizarreness!

If I had my way he'd be free to referee in France permanently.

Ozil was signed on deadline day.
But surely it was just admin on the final day and most of the negotiations had been done before hand... anyway the way Ozil has played recently maybe it was scrabbling at the end of the transfer deadline.

According to the Telegraph United are paying Falcao's full £346,000 a week! Despite his goal scoring record its no wonder other clubs backed out.
