I favor a 4-1-2-1-2 formation.

I'd have Flamini in front of the back four, Ramsey & Wilshere in the middle with Ozil having a bit more freedom to play behind Welbeck & Alexis.

Personally, I don't think Ozil will work as part of a 3, I think he would want more space and freedom by playing in the hole.
What do you do with Theo when he comes back ?!?!

Maybe they should go 4-3-3? fk knows.

I honestly think the real problem is the fact we play with full backs so high up the pitch....IF we had a mobile athletic DM who can easily drop back and cover the space it would be easier to cope with but we haven't. Part of the reason Sagna's left is that at 31 years old he was getting on a bit for a full back and we have a 32yr old DM never known for his pace trying to cover for the full backs marauding up the pitch.

Totally agree with your second point, we need to play 4-4-2 until the Gibbs and Debuchy are both fit and not rely on full backs for width with our current defensive problems.

As for Theo, I know surgery is so much more effective that 10 years ago but I have the nagging doubt he'll be as quick and without the pace he'll be pretty ordinary.

Theo's pace won't be affected, there was a well written article about his type of injury and it will not effect the muscles that give him his pace. In fact if anything he should come back stronger and faster as he has been working on building up his leg muscles which he wasn't able to do until he had this much time off. In a recent interview he said he wants his sprint record back that Bellerin took, and feels confident he'll be able to do it.

Comforting, ta. Now we just need AW to have time off to work on his brain!

Yes, I think Walcott works in a three. He can also work as a striker. I favor 4-1-2-1-2 because I think with the players we have it would be a better balance. Unfortunately, you can only select 11 players and someone has to miss out, in this case Theo.

I would love to see Alexis & Welbeck play alongside each other they would terrify most defences with the pace and trickery.

I really want Welbeck to do well, and I do think he will in time, however I think defenders will look at Welbeck and think, this will be an easy game.

Theo should be starting rather then Danny all day long once he's fit.

Is Ozil playing in his proper position now?

Is that why he has a goal and an assist?

Very pleased for Ozil and Welbeck today. These were two very good goals in a very economical win.

Just goes to show what happens when you play Ozil correctly. Not only did he shine he got Welbeck up and running as well.

After a performance like that, if I see Ozil back on the wing I'm going to end up screaming. Showed his class today, and why Arsne told Cesc he wasn't needed.

Tuesdays game will be intresting, I expect a very different side, Hayden and Zelaem will I suspect come in, along with Ospinia. Would love to see Akpom given a go too.

Hard to tell from 5 mins highlights on MoTDbut it did look like Ozil and Welbeck linked up very well.

We will probably see Campbell, Roisck, Diaby, Coquelin etc too in the cup.

Ozil and Welbeck scored superb goals yesterday. In particular the pass from Welbeck for the first goal was outstanding and then a sumptuous cross from Ozil for Welbeck.

I hope and pray Wenger was taking note and we see more of this combination. As I said the other day, I'd love to see Alexis partner Welbeck with Ozil behind, I think that could be devastating.

I really the idea of Welbeck playing in front of a Alexis, Ozil, Walcott......those three players in front of/alongside Ozil....really could be devastating. The beauty is I think they can all play in all three positions which I don't think any defence would like....I do wonder if Theo might do well on the left cutting in a la Pires/Henry. He's never been the best crosser of a ball anyway.

I disagree I think having a three behind Welbeck would stifle Ozil. Ozil MUST play in the hole, it strikes me there's a desperation to accommodate every one and it's not realistic. I think Walcott deserves his chance up top alongside Giroud or Welbeck. Competition is a great thing.

When Giroud & Walcott are fit we will have some fantastic options in attack. Giroud, Welbeck, Alexis, Walcott, Podolski and Ozil for the forward positions. Unfortunately, I don't see a place for Campbell at Arsenal and the less said about Sanogo the better.

Didn't explain myself properly...Ozil would be in the hole. Obviously Welbeck would be up front normally but I don't see why Walcott and Alexis can't switch sides and even for Welbeck to play on the flank sometimes with Alexis or Walcott up top.
