Does Wenger hold so much power that none of the players can deviate from the tactics even when they can see it is not working? As good as AOC was going forward for you, someone like Flamini or Mertersacker needed to bk him about his defensive responsibilities.
In a word yes, hence successive examples of ruining the ability of certain players. Bendner would have been a very good No 9 - if he hadn't been played wide left. Ditto Arshavin / No10. To point out to Mr Magoo (short sighted?) this wasn't bloody Bury he was managing! (cue Gérard Butler voice) This is Arsenal! We may not have had the cash of Chelsea and both Manc clubs but off the back of the ECL final he allowed an exceptional team to evaporate by his misplaced faith in players like Denilson etc. Failure to manage the Eduardo injury fall-out was negligent. He actually did nothing but maintain the status quo over the last 7 years which was no great achievement as he only had to stay ahead of Liverpool and Spuds most seasons, neither of whom could match our (albeit reduced) level of resource. Succession management is almost non-existent

ask yourself this question....

would the this team play like a bunch of tactically clueless wimps (or ramsey allowed to get away with smiling when he just about f**ks everything up) under someone like klopp, JM or Ancelotti ?

the team is under performing. there's no way anderlecht or swansea (with all due respect to them both) should be turning over a team with our total value.

forget about new signings. AW cant even hold a lead with what hes got..... when the pressure is on hes useless!

Probably best not to ask his players right now...

I disagree, I don't think there's a single manager in the game that could've have managed Arsenal as well as Arsne had, through the difficult period following the move. He worked miracles for the last 6-7 years.
I can't believe you continue to believe that. The issues this season are not new, they have been the same issues as we've experienced for years, fking years.

I've told you before, we've missed opportunities to acheive even greater things since 2006. We should have won at least 1 league title and 2 other cups but we haven't because the Manager is an idiot and that has fk all to do with money.

We don't make the best of our sort pieces, we can't defend, we lack leadership and we have no backbone. That has absolutely nothing to do with our move to the stadium or any financial constraints.

The problems are getting so bad and obvious that even the pundits who used to kiss Wenger's ass are even starting to doubt him, and slag him off. The tide is very much turning...

The media have rarely questioned Wenger over the years. He's largely been untouchable and I don't understand for the life of me why?

I don't know what we can do to get rid of him but get rid of him we must and ASAP.

Well his only 2 value players left are probably leaving in jan and odds on hes leaving sometime soon too. I think the guy has done enough (particularly against us and far better in the CL ) to illustrate the point.

Be nice if he sent those two our way and then turned up himself !

Who would you take assuming wenger dosent get to choose in his own flawed image ? Theres not much calibre out there

If you have something to contribute I'dike to hear it, otherwise if your intention is attempting WUM of the year award you've failed on the basis of lack of invention and only having half the wit that is a pre-requisite (see that's how it's done!)

You mean like the brilliant contributions you brought to the Man Utd thread?

Put your toys away.

Everyone knows that to succeed at the top level you need world class players in the middle of the park - strong, quick players who can tackle, pass well and have great leadership/organisational skills. Yet for years Wenger seems to have neglected this position when it's come to transfers.

There is no point having an Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey etc if you don't have a Petit/Viera/Gilberto type player to complement them.

Gilberto would be the perfect player to fit into this midfield. Such an under rated player when he was here.

Underrated by whom? I've yet to meet a fan who underrated him!

That west ham player looks like what we need, Song I think he's name is ...

In the general scheme of things, not amongst Arsenal fans.

I can't quite believe just how good Song is. What he is really good at is doing all the simple stuff really well and always seeming to know where there is space to either pass into or be available within. He really is a Champions League quality player, I don't hold out much hope of us being able to retain his services on a permanent basis.

Song went missing plenty of times when he played for Arsenal. It's the system as much as the players.

Decent article in today's Telegraph

Perhaps even the media are now beginning to sharpen up those knives for Wenger......

Waste of money is a big statement and it's early days but so far this season Welbecks played in 10 premiere league games and scored two. That's not a great return.
