Some good recent results. Villa were so so poor yesterday that we can't really take much away from it other than a bit of confidence and a healthy boost to the goal difference, but the City game was us competing at the highest level in the Premiership for the first time in ages, and winning through combination of hard work, quality, and good team selection and tactics. There was no luck involved, just a damn good performance all round.

I still believe Wenger is the right man for the job. He has made some questionable decisions at times this season, but we have had big injury problems. The players are coming back, there is confidence in the team, and I think the Man City result showed that Wenger can get it right. He now has the team available to him that he thought he'd have at the start of the season. The Spurs game is going to be tougher than Villa, and will be a good indication of how our season should go. A solid win and I think we can push on to that top 4 position, which we are quite capable of achieving. We are at least the 3rd best team in the league.

I also think that we are actually in the best condition for the knock out stages of the Champions League than we have been for a very long time. We should be able to see off Monaco, then a favourable draw and who knows

...the best one thing Arsenal have done is bringing Coquelin back from Charlton. He might not be the answer to everything so far but he has done a job. Maybe if he didn't come back and play the way he's played recently, maybe Arsene would have gone and bought a defensive midfielder, but he has been amazing. Arsenal don't look like they are going to concede, they can score. He gives everyone that protection that people were talking about. Sometimes you look for players and sometimes they're just in front of you. But the guy matured too, he went on loan, he knows that now he has to perform and he’s doing it.

Akpom apparently signing a new deal, good news. With the likes of him, Zelalem, and Crowley we have some genuine high prospects that will be breaking into the team in the next few years.

There's a bit in this Keown article about Coquelin http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31079429

To paraphrase "Wenger felt he was ready but needed to go out on loan to get more experience before being ready for the PL".

Great news if that is true about Akpom...we've had a couple of similarly promising prospects who have fallen at the final hurdle....JET and Afobe. The one I am excited about is Zelalem....he just looks an incredible talent.

How do you guys think this weekend's match will pan out?
Note too sure to be honest. Would be good to send a strong message out to the rest of the teams competing for those CL places that we have found some form and are looking to push forward and finish the season strongly. If we were at home I would be more confident, but I still think we might just sneak it 2-1.
I think the issue with playing Spurs is that they have the best goalkeeper in the league at the back.. It will be very interesting, but I am worried that we will have lots of shots and not score.
I think De Gea gets the best in the league title personally.
I'll give you credit, you're wrong nearly all the time. wink

He's done extremely well and hopefully he's finished Flamini's Arsenal career. However, I still want to see and top draw, world class midfielder sign this summer and possibly a world class keeper as well. For me Szczesny should be shown the door frankly.

I can never, ever say the word "best" with anything to do with Chelsea in the same sentence.

I'm liking Ospina the more I see him, and his chant is worth the no.1 jersey in itself! I like szczesny a lot, I wouldn't get rid of him yet.

Alexis out againts the spuds apparently.

There's stories going round that he was caught by staff halfway up a climbing wall with weights strapped to him, all this while carrying a small injury yikes

No doubting his commitment!

Shame about Alexis but we've got the quality in depth now.

I cannot believe Wilshere....he really is thick as fking mince. Posts all these photo's about how hard he is working on his rehab and then we see him in a nightclub living it up with a shisha pipe in his hand. His career is starting to pass him by. The performance he put in as an 18yr old at home against Barca in the Champions Leagues is probably the best I have ever seen from a player of his age....especially in the context of who he was playing against. Yes he's been injured but plain and simple he's not as good as he was then.

He needs to hear it plain and simple....sort your attitude and commitment or you will be gone.

Frustrating about Alexis but as already mentioned we're not short on cover, especially as it seems Welbeck is back fit again. Given that, I think, I'd probably start with Welbck, Carzorla and Ozil behind Giroud with Walcott and Rosicky on the bench. Perhaps a little harsh on Theo but I think Danny provides that little bit more in other parts of the pitch.

On the Wilshere subject; I'm really not sure how many more lives he has left. There is undoubtedly a very talented player in there but after so many incidents like this Wenger and his team mates must be loosing patience. It can't be nice being out injured for as long as he has been but there are examples throughout the club that show how to tackle that. He just seems incapable of learning. My concern is that if Wenger does loose patience then I've no doubt that there are other managers (both domestically and abroad) that would be willing to take the risk on him. It would really stick in my throat if he was moved on and started to fulfil that potential for someone else. I can't profess to know Wenger's man management style but given how he come across in the media etc I wonder if the fatherly arm round the shoulder approach needs to be replaced by the hair dryer/flying boot approach.

We'll see if Wenger's promise after the Scheezer incident was bluff or not.

Wasn't he quoted as saying the next player to be caught smoking would be working with the youth team for the rest of the season ...... or something like that?

The video and "statement" on Instagram if anything makes it worse....no contrition, no apology...no admission of making a mistake. What an utter cock.
