Big ask and sadly not to be but, still a close run thing. The damage was done two weeks ago.
You have to say it's Wenger again as the team gave everything tonight but just lacked a bit of quality when it really mattered. How many 'a goal short' CL away fixtures do we have to endure. If W had done his due diligence and shut up shop on the 1st leg a la Borinho we'd be through. But,of course,he only knows 'The Arsenal way'. Ie. concede a shedload in the home leg.
With all that I'm struggling to understand how that set of mugs put 3 past us at any time, that's what I don't get.

Alexis needs a rest....without him we'd be nowhere in the PL thanks to his efforts before Xmas but he looks utterly fked.
He does need a rest, however he isn't a one man team and it's not entirely down to him that we are where are in the league.

hardly .... how much are they all being paid/cost?

wtf were they doing in that position? considering who AW has at his disposal 'brave' is the last thing i would call that performance .....

Tonight we played reasonably well but again Giroud was profligate in his finishing highlighting the fact that at the absolute highest level he just isn't up to it. Walcott was anomomous when he came on and Alexis had possibly his poorest game in an Arsenal shirt.
yes

Given his equally anonymous appearances in all the matches since coming back from injury, I was gobsmacked (but not surprised) that Wenger replaced Welbeck with Wallnut in such an important game - I just don't get it?

The rest of the team can be very proud of their efforts. Particular credit goes to Ozil, Cazorla and most notably Monreal who has to be the most improved Arsenal player this season, he was outstanding.
yes

Was talking about Monreal's improvement this season at half time at Emirates last week, we were all in agreement about that.

don't pull that schoolboy card just because we disagree ... its a public forum.

i have been consistent for about 4 years on here. the money was there. the money is being spent. if you think that was an acceptable performance or 'brave' then good for you.

personally £for£ that was deeply unimpressive over 2 legs and frankly for the cost / stature of the club, unacceptable.

you really should get over yourself. no one mentioned 'hate' apart from you

Unlucky in the end - the two legs were a compact analogy of all that is Arsenal, sometimes great, sometimes one-dimensional, stubbornly AW and lightweight

was cheering you on though (LFC fan) as you were going for it properly and Monaco were pretty blatant in terms of fouling and disrupting

Getting worried that EPL will lose its 4th CL spot given the way English clubs are performing

anyone know how the coefficient works and how close we are to losing the 4th spot?

I wish we would lose the fourth spot - it'd make the season even more interesting for those that don't follow the top clubs ... and lead to a few more tears come May ... also, it would over time possible stop/delay the bigger/stronger clubs from becoming bigger/stronger than they are compared to the rest although the extra Prem money might do that anyway ...

I'd welcome it ... plus it may mean Manyoo would miss out even more than the two years they're going to hopefully miss out after this year ... biggrin

England are 2nd in the ranking, with Italy 14 points behind. We'd need another 3/4 season of underachievement, with the Italians over-achieving in the same period, for the rankings to change.

This pretty much sums it up for me. There is only one consistency between the teams that have assembled over the last few years.

Despite being quite obviously knackered and lacking sharpness, I am surprised to see Alexis starts..
