Theo'a apparently agreed a new contract and Poldi is off to Turkey.

Contrast this transfer window with the carnage of three to five years ago when we couldn't get rid of all that dead wood and all our best players we're being tapped up.

Our priority must be to sign a quality DM player to support Coquelin. If we can sign that player and even if we don't do any other inbound transfer business I'd be very happy with this transfer window.

Indeed...unless to quote Wenger "a top, top talent" becomes available up front I'd rather we didn't sign anyone. Apart from De Gea I can't think who RM have been linked with (apart from Ramos to Man U) at some stage they will spend big and jettison someone in an effort to catch up with Barca.

And....Cech's confirmed biggrin
Absolutely delighted. A great piece of business.

Well done everyone at the club for making this happen and Roman! biggrin
Absolutely.

Not sure what to make of the talk that Wenger said that he nearly bought Cech in 2002 but paperwork issues prevented him and then he opted to keep Lehmann instead of going for Cech after his stint at Rennes.

I suppose it's not the first time Wenger as said that he nearly bought so & so prior to them becoming good/big money player.

Should be a hell of a competition for 1st goal keeper spot if Ospina sticks around.

Yup. agree about the quality DM addition too, and I'd like to see Henry mentoring Welbeck into the top talent striker that I think he may have within him.

Arseblog pointed out the other day that since Scezzer has been at the club he's not had an experienced/senior goalkeeper to learn off.....certainly the noises out of him are he's happy to stay, learn and fight for his place. If you think about it Cech could be at the club until Scezzer is 30 by which time he has the potential to be a hell of a keeper. He certainly has all the attributes....it's "up top" he's lacking.

I agree about Welbeck too...there's potentially an outstanding player in there. We have plenty of options up front.

You think he's going to want to sit on the bench for the next 5 years?

100% agree. I was delighted when he signed for us, he started very well but then virtually forgotten about once Giroud returned from injury.

He has pace, strength and he's a team player. He needs to learn to be more selfish and sometimes he needs to make better decisions when in possession of the ball. I love having him at the club, he's something different to all our other forwards and if as has been suggested someone like Henry can get hold of him we could have one hell of a player there.

No. But I think he probably knows he's not as good as he should be...I think he's the same age as De Gea. Play the Cup games, learn from the guy that's been the best in the league and maybe he gets CL games as well. I Think the fact he's staying is admission he knows he has to improve.

So van persie is off to turkey. I know he won the league with united, but I don't think that move turned out as he would have hoped.

Guessing Fergie pulled a fast one on him by retiring, still, he wanted that league medal and got it. Surprised at Van Gaal letting him go though especially being his national manager unless theres a long term medical condition weve not heard about,

£24m for one decent season. They did win the league of course but would you say they got value for money?

I see we've been linked with Pedro. A very good player, however my preference would be to get Carvalho or Schneiderlin in the position we most need additional quality.

Still, happy with the summer so far.

Admittedly he won the league for them (or was at least a huge part of it) but £25mil for a year's football (plus a rumoured £250k a week) makes it look like Arsenal did okay out of that deal.

Talking of doing well out of deals...I was reading a piece about Bellerin the other day....when Cesc went to Barca part of the deal was that we got two Barca youth players, one of which was young Hector. Based on what luke Shaw went to Man U for Bellerin has got to be worth £15mil or £20mil.

Flip it around. If you could pay 25mil for a player and 250k a week and you won the league would you be happy or pissed off?

I see there's media gossip saying Wenger has reportedly personally phoned Benzema trying to lure him to the EPL.

Oh, and it appears RVP has been shown the door by his old national team boss and is sulking off to Turkey moaning about being 'betrayed'....

Pot n kettle springs to mind laugh

I couldn't give a fk about him. Here's a player who spent almost as much time in the treatment table as Diaby, he then had one good season and fked off, this after all the support the club and the fans gave him. I hope he rots in hell frankly!

^^^ Absolutely agree. You carried him for season after injury filled season. Then, one good, injury free year and he buggers off.

Ospina quoted as saying he wants to stay at the club. I wonder if someone will be going out on loan. Would be plenty of suitors in the premier league for someone like Szcesny for a season.
