He's turning into one of these professional physio dummies who sometimes happens to pay football.

Shame. Such a good player, but without pre-season to help him hit the ground running it's hard to see him featuring much. Still, I imagine he'll have his annual spell of form where he's one of the best players in the league for a few weeks before being dropped/injured again.

RVP cost Man Utd around £12 million per year in wages for each of his 3 seasons, and £24 million transfer fee.

So that's £60 million for one league title.

Minus what they get back in transfer now that they are selling him (which will not be a lot).

Possibly best bit of business Wenger has done recently- he was vilified at the time of course.
How much could you say that the league title win generated for us though?

It's not really that simple obviously, but I know as a fan I'd much rather have my memories of RvP's goals, the title win and the parade with Sir Alex retiring.

Nice bit of business by Sir Alex too. smile

I'm amazed his contract was extended despite him being a great player....and judging by his comments I think he's not best pleased. He injects great pace into the game....like a metronome....I thinbk it was a Spurs game I saw a year or so ago where he was simply outstanding.

Can't really see him getting much game time assuming Shad's work in the fitness/conditioning area pays dividends. I think the only three nailed on starters in our midfield/attack are Ozil, Sanchez and Le Coq.

That leaves (deep breath)

Arteta (might be preferred to Le Coq for home games against teams where we expect to dominate)
Flamini
Cazorla
Wilshere
Ramsey
Giroud
Walcott
Welbeck
Gnabry
Rosicky
The Ox

Fighting for 3 places

Amazing competition for places even compared to the other Top 4 clubs....best squad we've had in years. You could reasonably expect an Arsenal Second XI to be good enough to get very close to a Europa spot in the PL.

I absolutely love Rosicky! Really feel for the guy as he's been very unlucky with his injuries and is a he'll of a player when he's fit!

Our game against Singapore is on SS1 now, just about to start the second half. Currently 1-0 Akpom scored. Repeated later for those at work.

New long term contract for Bellerin announced this evening. Great news after the way he progressed last season.

I'm quite happy so far this pre-season. Top class keeper signed and other players tied down on long term contracts. I still think we'll make one more big signing in this window but no more than that, I'd be surprised if we did more than that.

I see everyones a bit meh about pre season. We made Everton look very poor today, Cazorla and Ozil ripped them to pieces all game and apart from one mistake from Ox for their goal a good team performance. Only a friendly but hey ho, first silverwear of the season biggrincoffee

Dzeko.........not for me thanks.

I know it's only gossip from a lowly red-top rag, but I have had a bad feeling about this one for a while.

No, not for me at all. !!!!

I don't think he'd be any good for the goons IMHO

You just need to keep Walnut fit & injury free.

Yes. Would rather go Walcott and Giroud than buy the likes of Dzeko

We've got Giroud, Walcott, Welbeck, Alexis and Akpom to play through the middle. I'd be happy to start the season with those players.

I would just love us to go out and get Carvalho to help and push Coquelin. Otherwise I think we've got options right through our squad, we just lack another natural midfield enforcer if we get Coqulin injured.

If Benzema was to come available then I definitely wouldn't say no! biggrin
