Maureen bemoaning clubs trying to buy the league.
No wonder some people call him a cheque book manager.
It's the 5th, 6th & 7th places that I find more interesting.....in terms of a spend to trophy ratio over the same period. That really doesn't look good for us frown
What I find even more interesting than that is Wenger has somehow managed to convince the fans and the media that he hasn't had money to spend! And they've obviously bought it as it gets trotted out constantly.
I have a feeling that isn't a net spend....so it doesn't include players sold.

It is also flawed though as the biggest correlation between success and money is the wage bill. That would push Guardiola right up as Barca's wage bill is huge...as was Chelsea's relatively compared to everyone else in TSO's first time at Chelski.

Rumour is that Benzema isn't having a medical at Arsenal. Heard it here first.

Coming or not, does he really offer anything Giroud doesn't? Wenger rarely buys players similar to what weve got (apart from midfielders).

Looking at their respective wikis since 2009, their scoring record is Close, Giroud has played slightly more.

Benzema from 2009 played 188 scored 87
Giroud from 2010 played 187 scored 81

Where prey is the wind up... rolleyes

He'd be an excellent signing for the goons, please say this isn't true.

I'll go out on a limb and say it isn't.

My personal opinion is that Benzema doesn't leave unless they buy a big name...given RM do all their business very publicly I think we're safe saying he isn't.

Let's face it Benzema isn't leaving RM unless he spends a lot of time on the bench (which he didn't last year) or a la Ozil they tell him he's surplus to requirements.

''good news that Walcott and Santi have signed extensions'....

mm well if the paper talk is correct not sure that i'd agree. Apparently Walcott will be on 140k a week....
not sure by a longshot that he's worth that, if its correct thats supposed to be similar to Sanchez and Ozil...go figure?

i'm def not a Walcott hater, but i just haven't seen what the hype is all about, yes he's fast, but the end product is hit n miss, and you don't tend to see the same driving runs that the Ox makes....

and while were at it - anyone got an opinion on why Arteta was re-signed? an overload of players that can play in the middle, young talent that could fill the odd gap if the worst really happens, and we sign a guy that lost whatever pace he had about 3 years ago, and who loves the power of sideways and backwards SLOWLY....

Walcott's always got big contracts....shirt sales and apparently the Asians love him and it's probably par for a homegrwon player of his ilk. I think Ramsey is on similar money now.

It's not Arteta that bothers me....we need someone else if le Coq is injured. I can't see Flamini getting any games and sadly nor Rosicky who also had his contract renewed.

Whereas I really like what Walcott brings to the table. If there's a high line defence he will run a strip off them, if he gets past there's an evens chance something will happen. If he doesn't get past there's a better than fair chance we will get a free kick in a dangerous position and a opposing defender on a yellow. It brings another dimension to the game. If the defence sits deep then Girouds strength comes more into play. If Sterling is worth 50m Walcott is worth more IMHO...
He is in the old school naming a very good inside right, he is not a winger or lone striker....I like him, he's a great ambassador for the game and the team off the pitch too.

I agree on your point that he asks very different questions to Giroud...for example I would say tomorrow Terry and Cahill would much rather face Giroud than Walcott. Terry much as I dislike him is a quality act but has never looked the greatest when exposed to pace (normally when playing behind England's porous midfield rather than Chelsea's).

Also a good point about midfield....when you don't have pace up top the opposition can push the defence up a bit and condense play which makes things harder for a midfield like ours. Thinking back two years when he was the only real player with pace in our squad he used to make a huge difference to how teams set up.

Talking of two years ago (well three) here's the list of players we've shed from the first team squad since the 2012-3 season.

Diaby, Sagna, TV5, Poldi, Santos, Squillaci, Djourou, Fabianski, Arshavin, Manone, Frimpong, Gervinho, Park, Chamakh, Bentdner and Denilson.

fk me isn't that the rogues gallery! With the exception of the first three names on that list you can say without doubt that every player that has come in to replace that lot has been an upgrade. Apart from the first three and the two keepers none of the rest are anywhere near PL quality let alone CL quality.
