I think that's harsh. He couldn't get to the first one, he had to come out for it! The second goal was a peach so you can't blame the goalie!
First one was a howler, punching at thin air.

Second, he raises his hand to say I should have had that. It wasn't the greatest of strikes.

Why do your crowd boo when you lose? Seems very poor form to me.
It happens at about 99% of clubs nowadays.

It might do, but 99% of clubs aren't finishing in the top 4 of the PL year in year out and challenging for the title in most of those years.

Been out this afternoon and only just seen the result.

Very disappointed that given the positive work at the end of last season and the excellent pre-season that we've failed to make a positive start.

I've looked at the stats, we seemed to have a lot possession and shots but didn't look like scoring. Were we unlikely or just woeful? Have we choked already?

Anyway, hopefully this will be like a couple of seasons ago when we were beaten by Villa on the opening day and then went on a run.

I don't agree with the booing but it should be remembered; Arsenal fans have to pay the most expensive season tickets in the league and possibly in Europe. In recent seasons we've not been competitive in the league and that frustration still exists and will do so until we do compete properly for the title.

Oh dear, not a good start. Frustrating doesn't begin to cover it. Well done to west ham they had a game plan and it worked. I don't think we had a game plan tbh.....

My thoughts on this and your other post. You didn't "choke", you just didn't perform at the level that West Ham did, who were playing their hearts out for their new manager. Everybody drops points during the season, whether it's the first, middle or last game of the season it happens. I just think that booing your players is a poor show and hardly gives them them confidence that your fans are behind them.

Atmosphere pre game honestly felt like everyone thought it was an easy win....which it clearly wasn't! The Hammers undoubtedly played very well...and young Reed Oxford looks born to it, I love seeing young kids play like that. Arsenal looked pretty comfortable until the goal..The Ox in particular looked threatening. They definitely looked like they though they'd win by turning up...very disappointed by how they came out second half having had they wake up call they should have been right on it and weren't.

Midfield blend is going to be key....once Sanchez is fit Wenger basically has to fit The Ox, Santi and Ramsey into two places...although if Le Coq's distribution is as bad as it was today he'll find himself on the bench.

Looks like I might be going to the game tomorrow! Any recommendations for parking, for a relatively swift exit, heading west?

He's probably home already.
I wish I had stayed at home, what a load of ste! We weren't too bad in the 1st half, but in the 2nd we just completely had no idea, and there was no pace or desire to our game.

Why don't you sling your sorry rrs back to the Chelsea thread smile
Have there been many who used to support Spurs and now Arsenal?
Top trolling there Mr tits wink
I hate Chelsea and everything about them.
Vulgar Russian owner, classless obnoxious manager, scummy chav captain, they play boring football and of course the fans.
They reflect all of the above.

These results are why the prem is the best league in the world, a relegation dodger doing one over a top 4 side.

Thought you played much better when Sanchez came on. A lot more direct and looking to attack.

West Ham defended well and under this new manager I think they'll do much better than under Fat Sam.

I think he was at fault for both to be honest... the second one though, I thought he raised his hand to say "I couldn't see it". He seemed to take a step to the left, expecting it to go to his left, didn't see the early shot and was caught flat footed.

Same old, same old.

All fur coat and no knickers again, I know it's only one game, but what happened to the old fortress Highbury mentality?

Teams know they can come to the Emirates and get a result, Wenger needs to change that attitude asap.

Well done to the Hammers, they got what they deserved and so did our lazy lot.

I'm still firmly in the #wengerout camp I'm afraid, winning two FA cups in 10 years just isn't good enough.

10 men behind the ball then break away for goals? Seems to be how 99% of clubs play against us these days so we really need to have a game plan for it ourselves!

What match were you watching? From that comment it wasn't Arsenal & West Ham yesterday. I'm a WH fan, we played very well and did not 'park the bus'. I think most neutrals will agree that we deserved the win on the day.

Anyway I still think you guys have an excellent chance of being champions this season. Chelski did not exactly set the world alight on the opening day either.

The concern for me is yesterdays result is worrying reminiscent of previous seasons.

Is it just a bad day at the office? Do we have an issue playing under pressure with the weight of expectation on the club? Do we need to strengthen up front and at the back?

I don't know the answers these are just the concerns I've got.
