Hi, me and a friend are looking to form a football club, playing in the Norfolk leagues.

Does anyone have any experience of forming a club and what sorts of things I need to bear in mind?

What sort of costs are we roughly looking at for insurance and league fees?

Think we've got most of the other stuff sorted, players, pitch etc just need the finer details now.

Thanks for any help smile

Always good to get a sympathetic sponsor on board...

Already had a sponsor sorted, along with the home pitch, fund raising etc. I emailed Norfolk FA enquiring about the registration but no reply! Always a good sign

When I was part of a team that formed a few years ago (although in Wales) we spend a season playing friendlies to get up to standard and get ourselves known. We simply got hold of the fixture lists for out local bottom few tiers and invited teams that had a weekend off (or B team) to give us a game.

We filled the squad quickly as local bench players who wanted game time came in and the local coaches etc got to know the team and gave advice, contacts and all the knowhow. Also showed the local FA members that we could run a club properly.

Hope this process may help as you are VERY close to the new season so may be too late this year.

^ That sounds like good advice.

We've already had our fixtures through so I imagine it's probably too late to get into a league. Ours seems to have expanded quite a lot.

The club I play for is only a year old and I know the manager/secretary put in a lot of effort with the local parish council and FA to get approval to form the club.
