As good as Bale is and he is a quality player, Ronaldo and Messi are on a different planet.
£85 million? Makes Ronaldo look like a bargain at £80 million.
Everyone knows he isn't an 86m player. He paid the "Levy" wink
Or maybe RM don't actually care all that much. They don't have much of a track record of giving a rat's ass about transfer fees or wages.
It could also be looked at another way - Should reports be broadly correct, Narcisuss' new contract in total is broadly similar similar too the total value of Bale transfer fee + wages.

I wonder how much RM's spendings compare to the Spanish economy.

Been working in our Barcelona office this week and a few Barca fans have asked how good Bale is..
They really have not heard of him, although a few saw his goals against Inter.

Seems our boy from the valleys is really starting to hit his straps, now he's over his injury.

8 goals and 6 assists in his last 7 games, including a perfect hat trick and provided the assist for the 4th in Madrid's 4-0 victory at the weekend eek

Respect! yes

So, is this proof that he really is up there as one of the best in the game (something that many on these footie forums disagreed with) or the Spanish league is a joke (which another lot of people have said) hehe

I'm delighted for him, but also slightly disappointed for him.
He got his hattrick because Ronaldo wasn't playing. I think he's an incredible player but Ronaldo is always going to prevent him from fulfilling his potential.
I'd love to be wrong about that, but thinking of the free kicks and distance goals he scored for Spurs which he will just not have the same kind of opportunity to score at RM

Things are not looking good for Bale at the moment with the press (and some fans) turning against him.

"Gareth Bale: The 'Lazy loner' under fire at Real Madrid"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31876428

I get the feeling he is just the scapegoat for Real Madrid's dip in form.

So, a goal every other game is not good enough for a RM winger hehe

Plucky Gareth has bagged a brace tonight gor bless im, still 20 to go too. However it's not all good news, for the 2nd he turned in a Ronaldo strike (which was allegedly off target) and was booed by the Madrid fans laugh

He's been found out at the highest level as a fluker just like Kane will be.

He's out of form & in the middle of a lover's tiff between El Presidente and the RM comic that is Marca. Then there is the ever so slightly unrealistic fan expectations.
This is a bunch of people who had a pop at Zidane for being a bit ordinary & sacked Del Bosque for not winning both La Liga & the CL in the same year.

You're getting too easily sucked into the same mindset as those idiots in Madrid who worship the ground Ronaldo dives on.

RM fans believe they have a ready made home grown replacement in Jese Rodriguez. Isco is class too and can play out wide. I'm surprised James Rodriguez has got away with it from the RM fans, he's been a passenger since signing for £60 odd million.

Once Ronaldo does his horse fave a few times when Rodriguez messes up, the fans will get the message and turn on him.

I'm not being fully serious, but I do think the expectations of him are too high. He's not as technically brilliant as some of the other players around him and was bought for a stupidly high fee... saying that, I'd be very happy to have him at United. Just don't tell that to any of the marmalised Spuds.

Fair enough, I pretty much agree with the above. He's been served a bit of a st sandwich at RM lately.
