Hmmm, Alladyce , Symons and Bruce in the starting eleven could be the way forward, shore up a creaky defence a shade. !

Don't say I didn't tell you so!

Took the lead in the last 3 games. They resulted in one draw, getting knocked out of the FA Cup and losing tonight. I'm an armchair fan for the most part these days. Years ago that would have been me among a few hundred away on a Tuesday night - gutted for those who made the trip. Apparently Kaca was the only player to acknowledge the fans at the end of the game.

I've not seen the latest game yet but I've watched all the previous games via the Fulham app. I've commented before on the defense , my concern was that Burn is easily turned and lacks the fundamental skill to be a good defender . It's now clear to me that the defense as a complete unit lacks co-ordination , understanding and determination. In short they're feckin useless!
How much of this is down to the manager remains to be seen , I like Symons in general , however my judgement doesn't count an iota .
What's to be done ? Would another manager make any difference ?

I'll use an old Suffolk quote I heard many times from Dennis , a keen sportsman was Dennis , he used to say when witnessing me play cricket ...." you can't put it where it hint "

Playing Tuesday & Friday next week, probably also not a good time to be playing Derby, Watford then Bournemouth with our current form. Wouldn't mind so much if we looked dangerous, but we're bereft of ideas and Symons (IMHO) is way out of his depth.

We hate Derby and we hate Derby. We hate Derby and we hate Derby. We hate Derby and we hate Derby.

We are the Derby. Haters.

(and they're going to barbecue us again frown )

Proof , if proof were needed.
The entire shambles that masquerades as a defence resembles the school team ( Collingwood , Wallington , Surrey ) I played for when I was ten in 1958 .How many more times must we concede 5 goals before the penny drops ?
K.S. Is obviously aware of the deficiency but what must he do ?

Answers on a postcard to Tommy Trinder , you lucky people !!!

Probably say something along the lines of "the performances are there, but the results aren't coming". Not sure what games he watches, but that's five times we've conceded five this season.

The only good thing I can say is that it would appear that you've got enough of a points difference to not get drawn into the relegation slots. But it's not good after a promising start when he became manager.

I'm not so confident , I would say we're sitting ducks. It was indeed a promising start but the inconsistency that followed was indicative of the path followed since.

I've not seen any of the game against Bournemouth yet as I have to wait until the Fulham app loads the two minute highlights or if I can stomach it, the full 90 minutes , so I'll keep schtum for now.

What can he say, you cannot defend the indefensible. They all as managers have to say something , we as critics, supporters or admirers then discuss the team , the players , the results, the progress or lack of it.
I agree , the quote you've highlighted is pretty dismal .

My father, many years ago , when hearing an advert which included , " the more you spend , you more you save " shook his head in disbelief. I think the K. S. quote would have the same effect on him . I know it has on me .

8 points isn't a lot when there's 10 games left. Though I hope I'm wrong. Blackpool will never get out. Millwall have a terrible goal difference. Wigan, who knows. Remember Brighton were down there few weeks back

Next 5

Wednesday away - Draw at best. Loss more likely
Leeds Home - poss draw
Huddersfield Away - win/draw?
Brentford Home lose
Charlton Away - draw

Sounded like a decent point away at Charlton, Wigan with a new manager next. I listened to the commentary tonight and was just waiting for the collapse to come at any moment - I still have zero faith in Symons. We'll be pleased with survival this season which seems a ludicrous goal from where we were. Still, my lad (9) has only known the top flight until this year, so he's earning his stripes (and goes to all day-time home games which is more than me these days). More players leaving in the summer, but will the average age drop some more, or are we investing?

I'm in danger of sounding like a broken record stuck in the same groove . The defending is simply woeful , no matter which combination is used . Turner looks to be the only one who can defend in the given sense of the word.

I agree it was a good away point but I've not seen the recorded match yet, it's not available until Thursday here.

What's to be done ? A new coach ? Some proper defenders ?

I started going to Fulham when I was nine ( 1957 ! ) I love seeing the Cottage now , it's not changed apart from the seating I guess.
It's still a great place to go I reckon and I hope your lad continues to support through these times and gets to see us return to the top flight .

I just passed my 37th anniversary this week - first game 7/4/78, Fulham 1-1 Southampton, Football League Division 2. Still got the programme. Sigh.

Going to try to get down there on Friday night. Nervous of a humiliating defeat.

Don't fret silver, it's all in hand as Scot Parker observed :

“I think sometimes during this year defensively – and that’s all of us, not just defenders – we’ve struggled a little bit at times. So we need to carry the Charlton performance into Friday.”
