The current malaise at the club is very worrying. We can forget about challenging for promotion, relegation is a real possibility. Without Mccormack we would be in the relegation places already.

The contributors to this forum in particular probably have a biased view of the late Jimmy Hill , I know I have . Firstly he was a south London born and bred boy . I was born in Colliers Wood ( adjacent to Wimbledon ) but worked in Balham in a street market for over 35 years.
I watched him play at the Cottage in the late fifties alongside the other familiar names we all know.

There used to be a specialist Renault 5 Turbo dealership in Wimbledon owned by his two sons , I bought a red one for my then long term girlfriend . That was many years ago .

Sad loss .

Frankly, at least a stand ought to be named after Jimmy Hill.

Met him once, lovely fellow in person.

RIP

Aye, he was a brammer for sure . Most of us sarf Londoners are lovely chaps too ! wink

Seriously , "The Jimmy Hill End " or "The Jimmy Hill Stand " does have merit .

Can the new head coach make anything of this present group of players? With a transfer embargo in place and a perilous position in the league to consider , what are his options ?

I'm happy there has been an appointment , is he available tout de suite ? .......maybe he can bring some stability and new ideas .
The Rotherham game will bring some pressure to bear on a team without confidence, a team who look scared of the ball and when they are in possession have little idea how to use it .
Welcome Slavisa Jokanovic.

Joka came to Watford when we were in complete disarray (4 managers in a few weeks) and steadied the ship before going on a completely crazy run of results. He understood the Championship and was a master of tactics. We're not sure exactly what led to him walking away instead of having a crack in the big league, but he'll always be welcome amongst our fans.

Good luck to him thumbup

Broke the financial fair play rules (a while back). I would guess it was the Ruiz deal falling through. The club had allowed for the sale in its spending and then it fell through at the last minute.

The Putney End is the only non-segregated stand in England, permitted thanks to Fulham’s safe record with crowd control. It’s where away and ‘neutral’ fans gather and is arguably the most vocal, given the nature of visiting supporters. I often opt for the Putney End as it’s relatively easy to get tickets and you get to know away fans, plus observe tourists’ reactions to English football.

I stole the above few lines to illustrate , along with the location of the ground , why I think FFC is unique .
Sure , the trophy cabinet is threadbare and hardly creaking with the heavy load within but do we care ?

A test later today for the new coach and mighty interesting to see if , as things progress , he can halt the alarming rate of conceded goals from set pieces . It's stated elsewhere that no goals have been scored from corners by us ?
True ?
A new day, a new year and a new dawn . wink

Dembele ....a good riddance ?
Overrated and looks clumsy to me , maybe he will develop into a world beater , maybe Spurs are the ones to do justice to him but just now he's a luxury FFC can't afford .

Any thoughts of the lucky few stuck on Fulham ? smile

He's been loaned back to us until the end of the season. £5mil is a lot for a player who is out of contract in a few months so someone has seen something.

I think relegation might be on the cards this year.

MK Dons game on 2nd April is massive.

Jose Mourinho at Fulham !
I kid you not , the special one at Craven Cottage , true .

Joking aside , that was a very important win . I've not seen the replay yet but have watched all the previous matches in dismay. Let's hope they can get out of this situation and remain in the division, rebuild and give the faithful something positive to admire .

Some of the teams down the bottom are finding results. Bristol City have been woeful, like the Villa of the Championship, but they beat us and then (I think) put 6 passed their next opponent. My lad said "If we go down at least we'll go straight back up" then I pointed out he'd said similar when we dropped out of the prem. Rotherham v Bristol City is potentially a good game for us as both just above and could make up some ground. Trouble is, we still look like a team that could collapse at any given moment.

Very Fulhamish, but nervous times.

Mourinho's son is a youth goalkeeper on Fulham's books. I think JM is a bit of a fan of the club, so I've heard. Has been reported as saying he loves it because it's the last proper old fashioned ground left. Not surprised to hear he goes to matches, I saw that reported on the TIFF forum too. Doubt he'd be tempted by the manager's job, though.

I think we'll stay up. Just. It's been a ridiculous season. Surely next season will see us challenging again. In the second tier, hopefully.

Always a tough league to get out of (in the right direction anyway), bookies have us very much mid-table in the odds for promotion. My old man thinks there's been a couple of good signing and we have a shout of getting up. Looks like home v Cardiff will be the first game for me, my lad (10) intends to get to as many as possible.
