It'll be a constant stream of garbage in the press this summer.

It'd have to be a huge bid to take him away from us, if he wanted to go, and I'm not saying he wouldn't leave if offered a big opportunity.

But I think a lot has changed since January, IF we win the league, why would he leave?

Playing for a team with a huge fan base that worship him, champions of arguably the best league in Europe and champions league football next year.

Real or Barca are the only two possibilities I think, and aren't Barca under transfer embargo or does that not start until Jan?

Real and Barca always seem to get who they want - and with Real looking as if they aren't going win the league then they will want to make another massive signing.

If we win the league and get £100 million or so then fair enough.

And it would be a big signing, it would take Bale money to get us to agree to sell him. But then he's the best player in the world this season, what top team wouldn't want to sign him?

You know this post reminds me of the ones before Torres left,

We all know it's money & agents, not trophies that make footballers decide whom they want to play for.

You will do extremely well to keep him over the summer.

Yup I can see all the similarities between where we were January 2010, and where we are now.

The point being who would he leave for barring Real?

I'll agree with you on the agents & money front however I do believe that we can hold onto him.

It sounds ridiculous to say about someone in his late 20s but he is getting close to having only one contract left in him so there will undoubtedly be pressure to create a payday.

if it's just about football then there is no need to move now the Champions League is secured.

But if we win the league we won't be relying on history anymore so we should be in a position to get a replacement and spend the rest where it is needed.

It's not going to be the press that's going to be so annoying this summer, I can easily avoid buying the papers or going on their websites, it'll be posts exactly like this one saying the same stuff that was said 12 months ago. And guess what? He's still here.

12 months ago we'd finish low in the league, he was on less money and there was no guarantee how we'd do this season. 12 months on, we're in the driving seat for the title, we've guaranteed CL qualification and his bumper new contract kicks in in the summer. We're in the perfect position to keep him if we want to.

Liverpool turned down £40M, could they turn down £90M ?

Champs league waffle is bks , Real are guarantee'd that season in season out.

I'm not saying he's going to go but this is exactly what happened with us with Bale last summer.

I think i'm right in saying that spanish is his native tongue too.

Speculative WUM crap from Spurs fans? Yes we are all prepared for the deluge.

We are in a good place to keep hold, if £100m type bids come from RM then I can see money talking, would rather a huge pile of cash + Benzema than an even bigger pile of cash.

Hopefully Liverpool fans can focus debate on this season for the next 3 weeks, despite the hilarious "banter" that will come our way
