All his AntiSemitism convictins seem to be for calling people Israeli soldiers, antisemites, sons of hitler or sons of Israeli Soldiers.

And also he can't be very pro-muslim, he seems to be best mates with Marie Le Pen. What a weird bloke!

Not sure where I stand on this to be honest. Anelka deserves a punishment I think, Zoopla were a bit childish but their contract was coming to an end anyway.
his last conviction was for saying that some jewish guy should be sent to the gas chamber,he has claimed that 'jews are the biggest crooks on the planet' ,he preaches that jews control the world ,sorry Im really struggling to see how he isn't anti semitic,he hides it behind a mask of anti zionism but it comes out .

Whatever the politics, with regard to future sponsorship I am sure West Brom will make the Rightmove.

A few of us there last night were hoping Anelka would score, take off his shirt to reveal a Rightmove.com t-shirt underneath.....

The enemy of my enemy is my friend?
Do you mean the previous NF leader, Jean-Marie Le Pen or his slimily PRd daughter, Marine?
Twice we bail France out in the space of 30 years in the 20th Century when they are steam rolled by extremist regimes (the second time being fascist) and the buggers still won't learn.
The country is hugely anti-semitic (as was said above there was no shortage of French people getting on-message with the Nazis)and suffers a major dichotomy as to whether their bogeyman of choice should be the West African muslims, the North African muslims or jews. So while the main NF message is anti immigrant it's activists will always positively react to an anti - jewish / zionist / israeli (delete as appropriate) theme.

I thought the 'up yours' quenelle in France was delivered with a bent forearm but as a gesture it appears to have fallen behind the flicked digit nowdays.

Massive free publicity gain for Zoopla. Never knew they sponsored WBA, and never really heard of Zoopla being talked about on main news programmmes before.

Raised their profile hugely. If they had made no fuss we wouldnt be talking about them.

Zoopla aren't exactly small fry, they are Rightmoves only real rival in the market

In the meantime Lukaku comes out in support of Anelka, Everton obviously disagree as they remove the video from their site

Think too many people are making a fuss out of nothing, trying to create something minor into a major thing, need to get a life instead of getting offended on other peoples behalves. rolleyes

I would give him the benefit of the doubt because I am not exactly sure what the sign means and what Anelka meant by it.

Does anyone really think Anelka was performing a Nazi salute? Complete bks and Zoopla just saw it as a free publicity opportunity.

I don't know much about the Quenelle itself, but I was speaking to a Jewish colleague at work and he said that there has been a lot of offence caused by Anelka's gesture, and he believes it was a derogatary gesture against the whole Jewish community. If that is the case, and Anelka is seen to be aware of that too then a long ban should be applied. Apparently his rabbi wrote to the FA advising a years ban from football.

I am an atheist, so I'm not easily offended in these sort of situations but it does seem a little unsavoury. I reckon he will get an 8-10 match ban.

eh? Its not racist if you've never heard of it?

So if some African player started making a Ugandan sign that meant "kill the gays" or a Russian player made a Russian Fascist salute, it wouldn't be racist because its not well known here?

Bizarre sentiment!

I'm not sure it is exclusively anti Semitic. I'm sure some use it that way but it does seem to have at least one other interpretation. Clearly Anelka should have known that it could have been interpreted as this but it really isn't as clear cut.

Regardless, the Zoopla stuff is just free publicity.

When you translate that page to English, it keeps calling the gesture "the dumpling" ..

"Hang on love, there is a dreidel shop over there. I'll do the dumpling and you take a photo".

The French chap on the excellent Guardian podcast reckons that Anelka will get at least 10 a game ban for this,

I get the feeling that us here in the UK have no idea how bad this has been taken in Freance.
