40m bid gone in. Yowzers.
Big money, but it has come to the point where throwing money at the problem is what is required. I'm quite surprised Mourinho didn't fancy Mata.
Big money at a not really problematic area but a huge signing for future years if the Rooney rumours prove true.
I would love that guy in our team as I think would every other prem team

Its a big signing, if/when it happens. This transfer window has been event less up to now.Big money at a not really problematic area but a huge signing for future years if the Rooney rumours prove true.

mata is the player we should have signed 3 seasons ago...
my arms are open and welcoming...
lets hope the deal gets done asap. £35m might seem steep but at 25yo, I think its about right. January adds 10-15% on anyway imho due to perceived desperation on the buyers behalf.
he's deffo a £30m player and will get champs league and hopefully a Wembley final to look forward to after tonight....

Nothing solid ,I know the the scouts are all over certain clubs (over 40 players scouted the last month mostly in Spain) and some names have been mentioned ..Vidal is very highly regarded and by coincidence espn reckon that UNited have been speaking with Juve but that any deal would likely be in the summer, coentrao not so much at the moment they have other preferred targets for that position ,the other names I've heard are costa and Cavani and they do intend to spend big in the summer but the likes of costa and cavani will interest several other teams .Id love to see cabaye at OT personally ,but heard nothing about that, but I hear all this through a friend who has it seems a good contact, but he only gets bits not the full picture.
Moyes says:
"If we can do any business now then we will certainly try to do it, but I will not compromise the standards required for a player that can come into this club and help improve it."
One has to ask WTF did he waste £27M on Fellaini then? Could have bought someone else quite useful in this window with that.

Mata is a lovely player but alone he's not going to fire you into the upper reaches of the table.
I'm quite surprised by this signing to be honest as I don't think he's what you actually need. As the icing on the cake, yes.
Perhaps the icing is coming before the cake; Mata deal might have been easier to thrash out than others potentially on their way?I'm quite surprised by this signing to be honest as I don't think he's what you actually need. As the icing on the cake, yes.
TBH I think if you get £25m for Rooney in the summer that'll be a decent result for you. I know you all love him but he's 28, is on what £300k/wk?, and has the genetics of Jabba the Hut. He'll soon start to decline when he hits 30, he certainly won't be a Giggs. Cash in and start rebuilding this summer before he becomes a heavy, slow, 60-minute per game noose around your wage structure.

You really should stop beating around the bush you know. Can all the United fans refrain from using the term "Man U" so I can differentiate the ABUs and WUMs please? MUFC, Man Utd, Utd or United will be just fine.
Anyway back on topic. It would appear on the surface that Rooney is off. Unfortunately he has threatened it on at least two occasions and this is really it for one last big pay day maybe. I don't think his body shape would suggest a career into his mid to late thirties. On the flip, Kagawa is the most obvious candidate to be pushed out, certainly this side of the summer. Rooney might just relish the competition, chance to win more stuff, etc
I agree with the poster before who said why would he want to go. He has won everything there is at United, so for me, it's all about the wedge. The only place he can currently guarantee success looks to be City, and I'm not so sure he'd get in their first 11 at the moment.
