Does finishing seventh mean you have to slug it out in the first round of the league cup next season ?

Serious question here, after the debacle of England at the world cup, how is Utd's academy looking for prospective future England talent? I can see a lot of buying of foreign players, but I'm more interested in the home grown variety.
After the class of 92 the FA put in place the 90 minute rule to prevent United poaching from out of their geographic area despite only Beckham, a life long utd fan falling foul of the rule. This shortsightedness we are still paying for. The rule was very quietly removed a season or so ago as the result was the influx of foreign youngsters. There are some gems in the United Academy, english and foreign, but England will remain fked whilst the FA is run by clowns. Bryan Robson has high expectations of van Gaal:

Amen to that, brother.

Could this actually happen?
Could we actually be signing Vidal?

Last paragraph
Gazzetta dello Sport report on Tuesday evening that Antonio Conte has left Juventus. Conte had three very successful years in charge of the Turin club but there were always reports of discontent over what he thought was the club's wrong approach to the transfer market.
The newspaper says that Conte is angry the club have failed to sign either Juan Cuadrado or Alexis Sanchez and he's not altogether happy with what he'll consider the cheap potential recruitment of Patrice Evra from Manchester United.
Conte is fiercely ambitious and wanted Juventus to be a real European force as well as the best team in Italy. However, finances at the Italian club are not great and haven't improved over the past year. Juventus have done excellently in the transfer market with financial restrictions and provided Conte with an excellent team at a relatively low cost.
Much more pressing than that, at least immediately, is that Gazzetta dello Sport claim Manchester United have raised their offer for Arturo Vidal and agreed terms with Juventus for the transfer.
Roberto Mancini and Massimiliano Allegri are the immediate favourites for the job.

His achievements for 1 club will never be matched.
Adams gets trumped by the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Casillas, Puyol, Schweinsteiger, etc and that's without giving it any thought.

Tony Adams probably would be the first to admit that he never had the ability of these players mentioned but I bet his name was always first on the Arsenal team sheet, Adams gets trumped by the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Casillas, Puyol, Schweinsteiger, etc and that's without giving it any thought.
A true leader & captain of men, i'd take Adams & his attitude over all these ones you listed , Schweinsteiger would run him close though.

That messi bloke is doing alright too!
Messi - 6 league titlesMaldini - 7 league titles
Giggs - 13 league titles
Yes there are all the other cups and Euro titles for all of them but the league is surely the first measure of any club.
