Why are we talking about Tony Adams?

He might be a legend of Arsenal, but how can he possibly be discussed in the same conversation as people like Maldini and Giggs?!?

Zanetti has attained the same club legend status at Inter as Giggs has at Utd - for me that's a bigger achievement then the number of titles
I'm not sure I understand, Giggs has been continually playing at the highest level in order to win titles etc.
How does that amount to a bigger achievement?

I'm only checking in every so often but I take it this continued discussion of players of no relevance to United means that Cie can put the tissues down for a while...

FWIW, I think this misty-eyed nostalgic retirement of shirt number thing's a bit soppy. Yes, Giggsy had an amazing playing career with United, but it's finished now. Let's leave it there and move on. We don't want to be one of those clubs that's always harping on about the past especially when it looks like we've a bright new dawn to look forward to.

yes

It would appear so

LvG arrives at the AON Training Complex today (Carrington) and I understand will be officially unveiled tomorrow. I understand the team flies out to the US on Friday. Thats about all that is occurring right now

Oh a slight positive, it would appear (from Twitter) that Evra is now stalling on the Juve deal until he sees what is happening there post Conte, fingers crossed we may keep him (even though his wife would be unhappy)

Tissues are still dry at the moment. I was going to open a box yesterday but I don't want to be disappointed.

For what it's worth, I still think Vidal is unlikely to join us, but we seem to be interested at least.

Are they dry because you've done it too much?

With Vidal, would there be a clash of interests in terms of Copa America ties at weird times of the year in the same manner as the African players? Always thought that's why Fergie stayed out of bids for certain players because we'd lose them for a chunk of the season.
The international qualifiers etc in Europe all happen at the same time but is that generally a worldwide thing?

you may want to check andy mittens broadcast, whilst he doesnt know if its a sure ting,he said something very interesting, united will only now pursue players who really want to come (see the fabregas farce last year ),herrera and shaw both fit that description.
He 'thinks' vidal also fits into that category.

(he also has a close relationship with forlan and posted about suarez leaving liverpool ages before the press were onto it.)

I'm really struggling to see what's so special about Vidal that would warrant the reaction by most United fans I've met, at the prospect of getting him?

He's a capable player no doubt but there's a long list of midfielders I'd rather have in the team then him. I've watched him a few times at Juve the past couple of seasons and while he's an integral part I just don't get what the fuss is about confused

Think Roy Keane with slightly more skill and a little less thug. We are very excited as it fills the gaping hole that Keane left that has never been fully filled.

There are a lot of people who would want the gaping hole to be filled with Roy Keane and 6ft of dirt.

This

A proper box to box midfielder (ranked one of the 11 best players in Europe in 2013)

Never expected anything else from their press conference today, which is why I haven't paid any attention to what's been said.

Becoming like the Hargreaves saga this one. Can't imagine all the changes at Juve this week so far have helped in the slightest. Clearly a complete press shut out at OT is only adding to the speculation.

At least we have LVG in the hot seat finally.

MANCHESTER United’s new boss Louis van Gaal has slammed the quality of the booze left behind by Sir Alex Ferguson.

On his first day in the job, former Holland boss van Gaal inspected the magnums, jennies and jeroboams assembled by Ferguson over 27 years, and declared them woefully substandard.
Van Gaal said: “There’s a few big-name labels here that simply aren’t pulling their weight.
“I don’t care if it’s a Chateauneuf-du-Pape or a Slovenian retsina, if its mouthfeel isn’t velvety it’s going straight down the sink.”
The Butthead lookalike went on to announce that the days of three-for-a-tenner deals from Morrisons were over, also declaring a moratorium on any wine that used exclamation marks in the tasting notes or had a cartoon animal on the label.
Van Gaal’s comments will fuel suspicions that Ferguson allowed the quality of United’s wines to decline in his final seasons in charge.
Rumours have also abounded that the long-serving coach secretly emptied several prize bottles of rioja before his departure, replacing them with his own blood, which has a slightly lower alcohol content.
Man United fan Tom Logan said: “I want us to buy loads of English wines even though they cost a fortune and look embarrassing when you put them next to proper European stuff.”
Van Gaal also dismissed the merits of the single bottle left behind by David Moyes, a bottle of cava put on ice in August last year and never opened.
