Of course you have to consider the opposition, but I can't help thinking it still would have been a 1-1 draw under Moyes! hehe
How do the opposition rate to the Singh President's Select XI or whatever it was that Moyes' team laboured to a 1-0 last summer? wink

hehe

Being serious for a second I have watched a few vids of the game now, that focus on Hererra, I know its only LA Galaxy but he looked good, what I wouldn't want is Vidal to come in and Ander having to sit and hold to allow Vidal to floruish, bearing in mind Ander is 24/25 and Vidal 27, we should focus on youth imo

I think we should be looking for a DM, like Carvalho/De Jong to sit and destroy, pass it to Ander or Mata to then create an attack

And to think there are still people (mainly over on the England thread) who don't think a Manager influences how a team plays.

7-0 against L.A. Galaxy.

Nice little opener for old Lou and the boys.

Granted. Though, if it was a not unusual 1-1 boring draw or similar, there'd be a cloud over the United camp. So I find it comforting and smug worthy that we beat them well, whoever they are. (Especially as the dippers lost hehe )

A nice little bit of medicine to see us forward.

I stayed up to watch it like a giddy school boy. Herrera was involved in everything. LA were poor but a lot of the was down to being unable to dwell on the ball as we on them like flies round st.

A very good start.

Van Gaal:
'When you see us train, you can expect something but not 7-0.
'It was a surprise, but they were also beautiful goals.
'It was not just the goals, but the beautiful attacks.
'I never go back, I always want to see the future.
'When I see my team playing a new system, it is better to win 7-0 than to lose because the players will then doubt the system.
'But now I don’t have that problem"

I think I need another kid so I can call it Louis!

eh?? Surely it'd be confusing having more than one kid called Louis? Believe it was popular en Francais at one time Louis XIV etc..

Certainly a feel-good atmosphere returning in the last month or so - long may it continue.

It does seem like we may be adopting a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 though, whilst I love the intent not sure we won't get torn apart in the league

Depends what the players in the 3-5-2 are doing really - the Dutch team in the WC weren't displaying total football, but there were a lot of players slipping in to various holes as cover as the moves progressed.
Mobility plays a big part in a system like that and I think a fairly solid back 3 is important too else as you say, it could all go a little bit wrong.

No need to panic. In the more indepth interviews the Dutch Master has given he emphasises the 343 formation allows the beautiful attacking football he wants to see. He feels it will take the players a while to fully adapt (last nights demonstration is a good start) but he is teaching this in the knowledge the more defensive formations traditionally used in the premier league are already ingrained in the players and he can switch to them as required.

Remember taking risks is what Fergie felt set him apart.

The Dutch master, I like it smile

Been doing some more reading and he does say it can very quickly switch to a 433 so as you say he's already considered it which is great

I'd imagine that's also why a lot of out supposed targets are defenders as we'll need more back up, we've barely got 3 first team defenders.

I think Smalling's probably first choice out of those three...

...to be pictured wearing a Sunderland shirt. He's never gonna be good enough and as soon as we sign an experienced CB and perhaps another young un, he's got to go.

Which kind of begs the question, why did we hire Moyes again?
