Woodward needs to get his cheque book out and spend some big money.
This is the problem with the transfer window. You lose, so teams who own your targets will hike the price up because they know you are in need. I can't see you bringing in another CB or two without paying well over the odds.
You really think United are only just going to look at potential signings now and haven't been for the last few weeks with negotiations ongoing?

No, but with your lot losing again the other teams are rubbing their hands now they are in a position to hold you to ransom.

Does it really matter? UTD are not skint

If they dont they have 0 chance of top 4
They are run as a business though, if the number crunchers don't think they'll get value for money they'll hesitate.

I have thanks. So because we have lost the first game, the clubs we are in discussions with are now going to turn round and say "we want another 5 million now"? Have a word.

Hope it's not another "give it until Christmas" season for you guys again.

Haven't been following the pre season goings on over there so forgive my question, but what happened to Giggs?
Last years theme with a new boss was "he's lost the dressing room" etc. and Giggsy seemed to pull the side together and bring a bit of feel good back.

So why bring in another multi million dollar outsider in Van Gaal? Why didn't Giggs get "until Christmas" to see if it panned out, cost free in the scale of things.

From what I saw today Van Gaal looked as bewildered and dumbfounded as Moyes.
Yep it's only one game, yep it's very early days and the board obviously know more than I do, but these games need to be won and should be there for the taking and he couldn't do it.

Why wouldn't they? If you are weaker in a certain position than you appeared to be in pre-season then the selling clubs are in the driving seat. Rather like when you bought Berbatov for an inflated fee, Spurs and Man City conspired to force you to spend over the odds.
My point was that if there was no transfer window then there'd be no twitchy rings just before the window closes.

One game chaps, a change of formation won't just click overnight.

Some weird results today that have messed with my predictor scores!

Totally not shocked today after the 6 friendly wins. It was always gonna happen.

No panic, there will be a defeat for one if the following, Chelsea, City, Arsenal or Liverpool on their opener too.

Hardly time to start panicking on day one.

ETA - maybe the middle line isn't actually correct...

You would have thought, with £200m to spend, they would have flashed the cash already!

Unfortunately, much as I'd like Utd to fk it up again this season, I think it's only a blipp and they'll soon start to show their class.
Still, it's made me cheerful this afternoon.

Bit of a fk up today, but SAF lost his first match too against Oxford IIRC. Personally I'm not that bothered, it's how we respond that will be the most telling piece for me.
