You're a week away from the window closing and I haven't seen any more names mentioned for defence or DM?

If van Gaal is looking to move to 433 then who is going to be dropped for Di Maria?

Think you'll beat any of Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal?

De Gea
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
De Jong Herrera
Di Maria Mata Rooney
RVP

With Rojo in there and if you do sign De Jong you will look a much improved team.

LVG played 3-5-2 with Holland as the defence was shocking. Every club side he managed he has played 4-3-3 and I think that will be the same for Utd this season as well. We haven't played well for the past 2 games and LVG, and Utd top brass know that they need more players. I think another CM and a CB and we will be ok.

Rojos will slot into the defence, Shaw is injured, Herrea picked up in an injury as well. As long as we make top 4 I will be happy this season.
It really isn't all that simple.
Those signings might give you a good starting 11, you certainly haven't got a good squad. You may get into a place where we were last year where we had a good starting 11 but if a single man got injured/banned etc then we were knackered.
Your rebuild will take time and if you think LVG is the man then give him it but you certainly don't need to be raped by other clubs for players.
I am sure you would be happy with top 4, wouldn't we all but top four is one tough quest this season for many of us!

Agree although I think Rooney on the wing is pointless hence the 4-1-2-1-2 I posted before. Most United fans I speak to are relatively calm, the players want to.play for this manager and they can do as we saw in preseason. The transfer window still has a week and I think we'll see some midfielders come in.

It mainly seems to be other fans worrying on our behalf, which is sweet of you guys but we are fine smile

haha, We aren't worrying for you keyser! wink We know you will be fine and most people on here have level (ish) heads, look at some other nut jobs on the internet and elsewhere and they want everyone shot within one game if it doesn't quite go their way!

He does need to bin that crazy 352 though, just like you have said. It is nice though seeing other fans having WTF moments when the team sheet comes out!

Chelsea and City are the title contenders this season. Liverpool will be hard pushed to repeat last seasons performance with Suarez gone. Arsenal haven't started well this season, and still have the same issues with a small squad.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, and us for the remaining 2 spots.

Don't rule out Spurs as hilarious as that may sound.

I see there being three tiers at the moment. City and Chelsea look like they maybe in a class of their own this season. I think Liverpool and Arsenal will make up the last 2 spots of the top four. Then there is Everton, Spurs and Utd. I think any of those three have the capacity to be top four, but not if Liverpool or Arsenal have as good a seasons as they should have.

Probably the shareholders, the main owners etc

The fans should as well. Let's say utd have 80M to spend. £65M on Di Maria, leaves £15M for someone else. If you got Di Maria for 40M, that leaves £40M for others.

Oh, and Real Madrid, of course.

As much as last season was horrible and this season start has been poor, there is also a chance that even with just another few signings (and not all mega money ones) that things could just start to gel and click. I think a lot are convinced that we need loads of top end signings when what we need to do is settle on a formation, 1st and 2 and choices for each position and then start playing with belief and conviction. There are clearly a few players who need dumping but one thing that annoyed me last season was constant team changes.

I was perhaps the first to mention Vlaar on this thread but I will also throw another one in to the mix; Fellatio as a centre back! wink

Just mentioned on build up to L'pool City game here that there is a hold up with Di Maria, Real now want 75 million, utter madness.

Too expensive.

He's good but he's not Bale/Ronaldo/Suraez good.

Otherwise Real wouldn't be selling him.
