Sad to see Welbeck go personally, shame he's never been given a proper run as a striker.

He's never shown any signs of being able to score enough. Will be interesting to see how he gets on.

£16M? hehe

1 hour left. Just sort of wondering why this deal isn't confirmed yet..? Mmmm Problem with the medical?

Why is it dragging on?

Excitement turning to slight concern that we'll be laughed at....

Be a bummer if we'd only signed Blind and Di Maria

Very mixed feelings.

Always wanted him to do well and really step up to the plate, do a Sturridge if you like.

Just not for Arsenal.

He's done some quite nice stuff from time to time but not much more than that. Good squad player IMO, never a superstar.

It's a pity some of the more likeable players are going/gone - Hernandez, Welbeck, Powell - even Nani to a degree. Yet appear to be left with the ones who aren't so likeable - Fellatio, Clev (based on too many ste performances), Young, Anderson. Not sure we have made the point with our "clear out"?

ETA and Kagawa

They'd look pretty bloody silly having shown Welbeck & Hernandez the door.

As is said earlier, the Chevrolet is putting him off.

I've always backed Cleverley but he's infuriated me tonight. Has had 2-3 offers and killed them all with wage demands, choosing instead to sit on the bench collect his wages and leave on a free next year, prick.

Cleverley could have fked himself right up here as after this I can't imagine he's even going to be on the bench never mind play! Who's going to want to buy him after a season of that? Silly boy.

After Owen Hargreaves, the new United doc will be taking a long hard look at a guy about to cost a squillion quid a year.

Er that's the point, they won't have to buy him!

I was thinking the same. Mid table prem sides are his standard at the moment and could afford half decent wages. Who will take him after a year in the reserves even on a free? Lower prem teams who will not pay 30k a week for an average midfielder.

He and Borini are prime examples of players on top wages, at a young age who clearly are not good enough for their clubs. Drop down to lower standard teams and then have a sharp fall from grace.

They need to be realistic.

Plot thickens:

Everton tried to knock down Cleverley price having had £7.5m bid accepted

Chris Wheeler reports: 'The plot thickens surrounding the collapse of Tom Cleverley’s move from Everton to Manchester United.

'Old Trafford sources claim that Cleverley travelled to Merseyside after Everton had a £7.5m bid accepted but the club then made an unsuccessful attempt to knock United down to £5m.

'The three parties have less than half an hour to revive the deal or Cleverley, who was made to train with the reserves last week, faces the prospect of an unhappy few months

Everton were apparently going to pay £8 million for him. That's £8 million to put towards his next contract.

I do find it so frustrating though that young players like these, who should have a bright future, are prepared to sit on the bench for what is in essence a few quid here and there.
