I'm finding it really difficult to stop watching you tube videos of Falcao's goals. What an addition he's going to be.
He really has got the lot and will no doubt terrorise opposition defences in a way we haven't really had since Ronnie left.
Crazy isn't it, its still sinking in to be honest. Something I feel has also been missed in all this, is that he has realised he made a mistake moving for the money. Whats the point in being the best is no fker is there to see it. Quite refreshing. He really has got the lot and will no doubt terrorise opposition defences in a way we haven't really had since Ronnie left.

The figure for Burnley will probably not be correct as they were in the Championship last season (i.e. not earning anywhere near what they will be getting now).Burnley FC revenue ~ £23m per year

so if RVP does not have a problem injury wise is it he or Rooney that gets dropped? interested to see how this pans out as neither of those 2 will sit on the bench ...
RvP will be the one to lose out, Van Gaal selects his captain on the assumption he will play every game.Whether we will see what some papers have suggested with Rooney covering the Mata role for some games I don't know.
Good post from the Caf about the rebuilding job

Finally, a coach with an objective approach to managing this squad. Finally, we're removing players from the squad that should have been removed a long time ago, existing only out of sentimentality or skewed analysis.
Whether you lament the fact that we've sold a youth product (Welbeck), or even the fact that we've spent heavily on those outside (Di Maria & Falcao) the club, it is absolutely undeniable that something needed to be done in order to ensure that this club is to progress and thrive.
The fact is, Louis van Gaal has been brought in to achieve two things in three years :-
1. Establish a framework from the ground up, a vision, philosophy, that would continue in his absence and for the long-term future.
2. Restore United's competitiveness in a ruthless era where teams are generally stronger across the whole league.
In order to accomplish this, we have to come to terms with the fact that although the way Fergie sailed this ship was brilliant, it was something which depended on him to sustain itself.
We're moving to a brand new philosophy, new ideas, with new demands. These new standards are perhaps tough and harsh, but they expose the weaknesses and glorify the strengths of our collective squad. That which cannot adapt must be sacrificed for that which can..............for the sake of the club. Without which, we will lose our standing in this league.
Yes, there has to be a place for youth development, but even youth development must be renovated to produce the kind of players which lend to the philosophy. If they don't fit, they aren't worth investing in. To achieve anything akin to what Barca have achieved, we have to be willing to endure short term difficulties so that the long term is secure.
Sometimes you have to destroy a crumbling house to make way for a sure and stronger foundation. It's tough in the short term, but we need to be completely behind and on-board with what LvG is doing at the moment.

Would never have seen that coming prior to yesterday - especially with the Dutch connection. He hasn't been hired to be his mate though, he has been hired to do a job for Utd. If he thinks his mate at 30 years old might not be up to that task then he will have no qualms in dropping him.
It's one of the many things that sets him apart from David Moyes
One would imagine Brendan will soon have a similar decision to make regarding one Steven Gerard. It takes balls to do, we hired LvG because he has those balls.

I see it more as Mata is the one to be dropped as Rooney drops in behind to play a captains role in the centre. He's really got to step up for the team this year and lead it. Nice to have the options though isn't it?
Yeah that is the other option being touted, I would prefer the former myself. RvP hasn't offered much this season so far and Mata will come into his own now with people who actually have the ability to run on past him for his passes (Di Maria and Falcao)Zoon said:

That and the fact that in just 3-4 years, Utd will have needed to have signed replacements for over £200m worth of attacking talent - assuming you buy Falcao next summer. I can't see any youth that appears to be coming through the ranks to replace the likes of Di Maria, Rooney, Mata, etc. Not exactly building for the future!
