Amazing from De Gea, outstanding saves.

Is it me or is RVP a complete passenger at the mo? Contributed nothing today and actually fked up a couple of promising attacks.

Great to see Falcao get his first, I'm hoping that there's many more to follow. McNair looked good again, kept Lukaku quiet.

A dodgy last 5 minutes but we're 4th now and still haven't played our best first 11 yet. Not that I'm sure what that is!!

Agree on RvP, offers nothing at the moment. I think Falcao will be amazing, the positions he gets into are superb just needed that first goal.

Lineker tweeted that it often takes foreign players a while to adjust, if this is DiMaria in his adjustment period....

Thought Valencia did well filling in for Herrera and Mata whilst not as energetic as Rooney showed again he is very good in that position. For me Rooney would be up top with Falcao and RvP benched if he hasn't improved by the time Wayne is back.

Agreed on RVP then. Falcao really should've stayed on but as he's been withdrawn in all his starts so far perhaps he's still working towards full match fitness. Looks to be a world class centre forward and really works for the team like Rooney.

Di Maria is great to watch and seems a proper team player as well. He's already a crowd favourite and worthy of the 7 on his back.

Apparently The Dutch Master has told the players that we are fourth and not playing well yet!

Enjoyed the game yesterday, decent atmosphere and great result although the defensive frailties are easy to see.

Enjoying going to the games more so now that the results aren't as predictable. Still at least 2 decent signings off challenging for the top spot but can see us getting better with each games once the line up settles and they start to learn each others game.

Fantastic to see us in the top four again. thumbup

epic from de gea, still very confused about how lvg uses subs, why take falcao off and leave rvp on ? rvp was awful and has been ,falcao held the ball up and was really dangerous, rvp did nothing at all and looks knackered after 60 minutes.
also valencia played well, kept that everton left side quiet ,but he takes him off and brings on fellover ,all of a sudden everton start looking threatening from that side, with baines running amok.

Falcao is still coming back from a bad knee injury. I saw a picture of him in training with it all bandaged up so I would guess LVG is just being very careful with him.

Did the Arsenal physio team come as part of the deal when you signed RVP the other year?

Fourth in the table with nine first team players in the sick bay.
Weird.
Sod's law says once they are fit, our form declines.

The Saints lead physio, Matt Radcliffe joins next week after Rob Swire quietly retired in July so perhaps things will improve, I do think we've just been very unlucky though.

11 days until west brom so should have a few back by then and hopefully no damage done during the international break.

Aside from Everton, we've hardly played anyone serious yet. Lest see where we are after the next 3 or 4.

Pretty pleased with our performances the past two weeks, especially De Gea's versus Everton, he had a bit of a shaky start to the season, or it seemed that way due to our defence leaking so many goals!

I've read that Phil Jones, McNair, Evans, Carrick and Herrera will all be fit for the West Brom game, which is a breath of fresh air!

As for Rooney being suspended, I think it could be a slight advantage as I prefer Mata in that CAM role over Rooney, especially with Herrera sitting behind Mata. Great to see Falcao score his first goal too, clearly meant a lot to him.

And Di Maria, what a player. I think someone already said, but if this is still his adjustment period, just imagine the level he'll be playing at after a few months.

Van Persie needs to up his game slightly, you could put it down to the world cup hangover or his age, or a combination of both. Either way I'm sure our flying dutchman will be ripping teams apart again soon enough.

In fact I would expect him to be less effective as teams and managers figure out how to contain him (at least partially). As of now he's an unknown quantity (same with Falcao) but that won't last.

Interesting Angel that!

To contain him will involve doubling up when he's in possession therefore creating more space elsewhere for Falcao, Rooney, Van Persie and Mata. Nice problems to have. Cutting off supply is also another way again creating space elsewhere.

It's going to be bloody exciting watching this side develop.

A slice of Monday night football for our boys this weekend. Quite pleased to get the extra couple of days post the international break, plus a bit of Gary Nevs analysis on the game will be interesting.

The injury list appears to be shortening and Carrick is close for the first time this season and I think LVGs honeymoon period will come to an end over the next 3 games. Bad results against City and Chelsea will see him under pressure in the media but it's West Brom first. A win on Monday will be three on the bounce for the first time in what feels like ages but was last December!

Obviously no Rooney again but Falcao and RVP were in scoring form while away looking forward to another interesting weekend.
