I'd be thinking about looking at the odds on that now. Newcastle will get a Nose bleed, Arsenal are going backwards, Few of the others have got squads big enough to sustain where they are over the season.

The fit squad that meant we had to play 19 year olds as our centre halves ? 40 injuries since July ,at no point has lvg been able to pick from anything remotely resembling a fit squad.

No, the squad that had money thrown at all the wrong positions. You could have (and needed to) bought defenders, the rest of the sane world didn't understand why you got hold of players like Falcao.

That's a completely different argument, and whilst there is no doubt we needed defenders ,how was lvg to know that until he took charge and saw the players we had, something he couldn't. Do properly due to injuries.
Furthermore I would argue that we do need strikers...if rvp was the player of 2 seasons back we would have beaten city and Chelsea and several other games we didn't win, falcao was a risk but it's too early to say whether it was one worth taking.

Given he's barely played I don't think he was. We knew he was an injury risk and yet...

That money would have done us a lot better on a better defender than a (another) crocked striker.

If he gets a run of games now & does well then we will be happy to have him. RVP is looking less convincing by the week IMO

Ok , but remind me what world class defenders were available?
there is a severe lack of decent defenders around .

And/or they are playing badly. Some of City's defending has been shocking lately. Chelski's title is being built on Terry & Cahill, just as so many of ours were built on Rio & Vida..

I disagree. He had plenty of time to assess what he had prior to the transfer window closing, and didn't see that your biggest problem area was defence/defensive midfield. Falcao was an exercise in 'player laundering' to satisfy FFP, and Monaco will return the favour at some point.

RVPs form or lack of is exposing the sale of Welbeck imho.

Squad player or not, as I've said many times, the premier league is won by the team with the best squad not always the best first eleven.

As much as we are struggling defensively, RVP is having no influence on the games at present I think his legs have gone.... see Gerrard for the bins for the same...

we should cash in if we can in January...as for all the injuries, it is worrying, we seem to be like the Newcastle of a few years ago - issues in the back room, conditioning etc...

Saturday was a very good result, if not a good performance, de gea once again MOM not for the first time this season which is increasingly alarming...

With 20/20 hindsight, I wish we had sold RVP not Danny.

In other news. Nearly all home league tickets are sold - for the season.
I had a look yesterday, and admittedly there are two games I cannot get to, but where seats are available, they are all singles. No twoes or threes together.

No offence taken. Would 'let's get hold of a luxury striker when we are on the bones of our arse at the back' be sound judgement?

Isn't that to be expected considering your grounds capacity is so much higher than everyone elses?

So how do you explain Stoke in second place and Palace and West Brom in the top 6?

They take into account noise created at away games too. Same result.

More importantly, it puts the myth of OT having no atmosphere to bed.

Acoustics of the particular grounds? It would also be interesting to see exactly which games the recordings were conducted at.

I'm not saying Utd don't have loud fans, and it's not like your manager has come out and said the fans don't make any noise hehe but these experiments are usually hardly the height of scientific research.

Not really, Chelsea and Spurs are only 6 and 7 decibels behind you with (in Spurs case) less than half the capacity.
