It was a sending off and penalty, just a fk up of who got sent off.its daft but sunderland should have been down to ten and he'll get the red card rescinded and oshea wont be punished.

yes

In all fairness to Oshea, he did seem to be telling the ref it was him that committed the foul.

Play average & win ! can't really ask for much more .

Quality by Falcao, ignore what happened with the Sunderland players, just focus on those two touches to create the chance.

cloud9

Still not playing to his strengths, good analysis by Shearer last night.

Agreed but very little positive in that analysis either.

Utd absolutely dominated that match - look at the possession, corner and attempts stats.

I literally cannot believe the press following the game. If Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City had enjoyed 70% possession and had dozens of attempts, there is no way that the press would say it was a poor performance.

Sunderland parked the bus and we won. End of story. Utd played OK. Not great, but very easily enough to win the game.

At last ,some sense.
30 attempts on goal and people are complaining ,it was like most united games when we were great and teams played 10 behind the ball ,people create false memories of us going out and thumping everyone 5-0,it was never so especially when teams park the bus like Sunderland did.
people talk about how bad di Maria and falcao were ..and they were ,but there were several very good performances Herrera ,and young played very well and Januzai actually showed some of his form from last year .

The "parking the bus" thing is quite new, as well. Bad teams used to be relatively tactically naïve and less well organised.

You don't see many teams turn up and allow you to cut them to shreds these days. Most crappy teams aim for a 0-0 and do a pretty good job of it until they concede the first goal; if they don't, they might nick a winner; and, even if they do go a goal down, they often settle for a 0-1 loss.

If that match had happened 2 or 3 years ago, Utd would have been praised for their patience and persistence in slowly breaking down a resolute and capable defensive outfit.

I also agree that Young looked good (not for the first time this season - he is winning be around), Herra looked good (as usual) and Janujaz is showing some form.

I was pretty pleased with the game. You would think we had crapped our pants and started crying at the first whistle if you read the Guardian article! No mention whatsoever of the complete domination of the game.

disagree about parking the bus being new ,I recall watching week after week of it under fergy (remember when everyone used to complain they didnt get penalties at OT ..helped if they attacked or got in the penalty box) .And be in no doubt, the press loathe van gaal ,unless they win every game 5- the press will be out for him.
Young has probably been our best outfield performer this season ,he should be starting at the moment based on form.
its new compared to last season where teams just came and had a go ,but that was new and refreshing.

3 points, job done. Good possession stats (helped by Sunderland losing a man) the difference being we had a purpose in the second half. Would have liked LVG to keep Falcao on. I think Falcao did LVG a favour as he was about to bring Fellaini on so we could start lumping it up to him, when Falcao won the penalty. Going one up would have suited Falcao as Sunderland would have left gaps for him to exploit. As it was Fellaini did nothing when he came on really. Januzaj did the simple things well, was unpredictable and the fullback didn't like it.

The ball's not coming in to him in the manner he wants it so his style of play has changed. A lot of the time he's not on the front foot looking to get in behind. Has he been instructed to come short for the ball? My guess is he has, by LVG, woe betide him if he's not carrying out LVG's instructions. When you've got Brown behind you it's no wonder you're getting out muscled, Brown's built a career on that.

He's not become a crap striker overnight, I just think our style of play doesn't suit him.

Rooney gets the plaudits as he's scored a brace but Falcao won that penalty with great play and then got subbed. Rooney's second was a gimme from a rebound when Sunderland were down to 10 men.

I do feel sorry for him.

I don't see Falcao scoring any 'gimme' tap ins. He has been terrible. No excuses wash. He is not a great player.

He changed the game with a bit of individual brilliance, what he's paid to do. If he hadn't been hauled down by an inferior footballer he'd have scored.

He's not paid to be crap for all but 2 seconds, though.

I don't see that he was crap though, he's a striker playing against a team playing deep with his back to goal not being provided with any clear chances to score. That's not his style of play, honestly I'm not sure what it is you're expecting him to do? What he should be doing is bking those around him for not creating any chances for him, could you see Diego Costa putting up with it? I think he's too "nice" for his own good.

His confidence is low and understandably he'll be judged by his goals to games ratio but I think the manager and players need to help him more. I wouldn't want to see him leave.

Besides, I'll take my strikers to be crap, if they do something in a game that makes the difference to win it. Taking him off yesterday for Fellaini resulted in a chorus of boos, whilst I didn't personally boo, I certainly appreciated the sentiment.

I'd like to see him get a run of games alongside Rooney. His work rate off the ball is excellent and his touch as seen when winning the penalty is still sublime. He has the vast majority of fans onside and I'd hate to see him banging in the goals for someone else next season.

Another nice touch about Falcao yesterday was as they were leaving the pitch he was high fiving the other players clearly delighted with the win even though inside he must have been hurting to have been subbed. He's a great team player.

Fellaini stormed off at the end without shaking any players hands clearly upset at the boos. He shouldn't take it that way as I believe the boos were more about LVG taking Falcao off than they were about bringing Fellaini on.

yes

With RvP out for a month the next few games should be Rooney with Falcao and Wilson later on. I also think Herrera should be given a run of games now as well. With Blind, Rojo and DDG all as pretty kcun nailed on starters I think it would create some consistency.
