I haven't been in a bar in Manchester that went as mental as this one just did with that goal. The frustration was insane.
Yep but that was a tough away game. How did Chelsea do on Tyneside?

3 points. Let's worry about the fineness next season. The embrace between LVG and Giggs immediately post goal was telling. Giggsy wasn't happy. He'll keep us on track.

How many of you think you will get top4?
One here and it's not post win bluster. For all the criticism LVG gets he can go toe to toe with the best in this league.

The anfield game might decide it....

Lol right back at you.

Played relatively well tonight, we had a bit more cutting edge, but still not enough. But, at least Rooney enjoys and plays the front man role well.

Why?

My comment was regarding the sitter of an opportunity he missed. He still missed it you know.

Just got in from the game (Newcastle fan)
Man U fans booing on the 17th minute - total lack of class.
Normally decent fans and good away support but that was terrible.

Another match where you keep trying till the end.
Another match where you don't play well and get 3 points.

Damn, I wish we had some of that!

NUFC had 33% possession.
It's more than luck.
MOTD are so anti-United it's a parody. Lucky Louis is now their mantra. Bitters.
1-0 away is the SAF way. Let's keep it up.

I'm actually surprised at how many people are saying we scraped it tonight. We were by far better and created the better chances. I can only remember being worried by Newcastle twice and one of those was the penalty decision.

It's what the viewers and readers want to hear though I guess. Did the MOTD highlights make us look worse than we were?

Christ, it's all a conspiracy dontcha know... You're all beginning to sound like Maureen...

Anyway, you'll be up against better quality teams than the Geordies in the next few games who won't just let you have the ball most of the time...

But we did scrape it. There were nothing like the number of chances to reflect the level of possession we had. While Newcastle never looked likely to score on anything other than a mistake or a breakaway, for very large parts of the match, neither did we.....

....and we had the ball for most of it!

A lot of it was "ponderous", again.... frown

We looked more dangerous than they did, missed a couple of decent chances and had an onside goal ruled offside. We were the better team... it was still pretty turd, don't get me wrong, but over the 90 minutes we deserved the 3 points so didn't really scrape it IMO. We could have won by 2 or 3.

Don't argue with that but Newcastle were fairly dire - and we managed one nil. It was feeble in the final third....

We were better than them and deserved the win. They had a clear penalty that wasn't awarded and Rooney's "goal" albeit Newcastle stopped playing should arguably have stood. De Gea and Krul had good games which kept the scoring down. Delighted we got the 3 points as the videprinter was giving me kittens last night!

I agree with Cie, whilst it wasn't pretty at times, we controlled the game, created some chances and ultimately won. I'll take that at St James Park.

Thing is at OT I have different expectations. I expect the team to play with confidence and expression. There is definitely a big weight on their shoulders and I'm not sure that they're enjoying it quite so much. Arsenal on Monday will be a big test and if Smalling decides to lunge in on Giroud/Sanchez I don't think he'll get away quite so lightly.

Di Maria looks a shadow of his former self, I agree with Scholes that they should give him a rest for a few games, Januzaj looks up for it so I'd give him a run.
