Morning.

Surely the better move for Rooney and MU would be to Madrid, couple of stories in the papers this morning.

Very excited if the Mata stories are true, gives us a (very) decent midfielder and options over how we play.

The Mata stories really seem to be gaining ground again, I wonder how much is truth and how much is paper rehashing old crap through lack of news?

See my earlier post ,this is happening....and possibly one more ,but that may be a deal which will go through in summer as the player is playing for a team leading their championship.
There will also be a huge spend in the summer wink

In before the trolls.

It's like a sweetshop in here, I don't know where to start...hehe

Seriously though, Rooney for Mata? Not a good deal under any circumstances.

I love Mata but he's no game changer - more a game enhancer - and you badly need a Rooney/RVP type more than a (very) good midfielder.

Hopefully we can sign Mata and a left back this window. If we don't make top 4 this season then so be it, as long as we make some great signings in summer and press onwards from there.

I'm still behind Moyes and willing to see how he gets on next season with more of a team he wants.

If you're going to talk about United and football then nobody has a problem.

Rooney is going, just a matter of when IMO.

Rooney isn't going to Chelsea, the deal is completely independent.
It's likely Rooney will go in the summer ,united have been watching costa and cavani which I can only see as a sign that one of rvp or Rooney will go in the summer.
There are also 2 Spanish left backs beingg watched one of whom will likely join in the summer.
And about 30000 midfielders .

This is from someone I will say has been about 80% accurate throughout the last 4-5 years.

United expect the deal for mata to be done today ,by Friday latest.

Having seen Woodward summer dealings things may go cock up ,but as it is it's pretty exciting stuff and lots to look forward to in the summer.

Assuming you get in the Champs league...then all bets are off.

Agree - Mata should be an "as well as" not an "instead of" and really not sure what he would offer over Rooney other than a happy to play v not happy to play!

Is Rooney's relationship really that broke?

Rooney for Mata is a fantasy and isn't being reported by anyone

There is an acceptance that Rooney is likely off in the Summer, but it is not part of the Mata deal and if todays papers are to be believed Real want him

He could be the difference and can score at any point so if you get him then the teams above you I feel would need to look over their shoulders.

You do however, have another No 10 in Kagawa. Whats the deal there? Formation, style of play, god knows but when he did play well he just got dropped.

Really? I have my preferences set to "big boy settings" and in the excitement to get the thread off and running, thought that as it was on Page 125, we must be there! hehe

Now if only there was someone on the thread who could explain arithmetical conundrums like that!! scratchchin . Anyhow, we're off and running now, there's no going back!

Rooney for Mata = not a good swap for me. Mata to United = good buy. Rooney to Chelsea I can't see happening any time soon.
We MUST strengthen not weaken our team...how anybody even thinking of selling Rooney would be a good move I simply don't know. We should pay him what he wants and play him up front with quality players in behind and beside him.

Not happy reading about a possible rift between RVP and Moyes. Fit to play but choosing not to, is bad form if correct. He should be busting a gut to get back in and play, especially in a World Cup year.

Also possible rift with Zaha, turned up late for training and was dropped to the subs bench for the U-21's. I feel sorry for him and think he deserves a game, obviously Moyes doesn't rate him. Wonder what SAF makes of this sit-e-ation...?

Personally I can't see any in's or out's (unless they're fringe players like Anderson) this transfer window...the value's not in the market. rolleyes

Sorry, wasn't suggesting any swap or deal, more the fact that Mata would be a useful addition, but not to ease the pain of losing Rooney.
