Keep him if you want a trophy for continuity.

But there isn't one.

Dont think he will be sacked this season but it would probably be the best for the club so they can get some stability asap and build for next year.

Just don't see them risking another season of this.....are they really going to trust him with a £100mil plus transfer kitty ? They can't risk two seasons of abject failure by Man U standards...if nothing else because another year of this and it gets that much harder to bridge the gap. We've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he can turn it around.

Gone in the summer. Probably a good time to be looking for a manager with the world cup cycle.

Read this headline:

I really think he will resign in the next few weeks, I just have that gut feeling, he seems haunted and lost.

There are two opinions out there that are just that:
1) SAF deliberately chose DM to make SAF look good. No evidence and an odd position for a guy who spent 26 years building the club.
2) No ECL means no ability to attract top players. Lou Macari for one says it's all about the players' wages. Wazza bears that out.
Notwithstanding this. DM has no ECL or title winning experience. His tactics are suspect and worse, he cannot motivate the team.
The Glazers only have United in their portfolio now, as a money spinner. They cannot afford the loss of commercial income associated with the team's decline. They will act to protect their investment and may not trust DM to spend well.
For me, DM leaves. The sooner the better.

This is from an article in The Times today about the Glazer's......

“At the end of the day, every year we feel we owe it to this football team and this community to do a good honest assessment of our franchise. If at any point, we feel that change is in our best interest, we feel we have to make that change. You can’t let decisions you made a year ago affect a decision today.”

Joel Glazer said that after firing Jon Gruden as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gruden had previously masterminded the only Super Bowl triumph in the Bucs’ existence, the youngest coach ever to win American football’s glittering prize.

The Glazers had awarded him a three-year contract extension but sacked him only 12 months later after a winning 9-7 season when the team just missed the play-offs. They have hired and fired two more head coaches in the four years since.

I really hope he's not sacked. It's absolutely fundamental that he stays to spend all that money in the summer moulding the team into his own style.
For the love of god, please allow this to happen, Glazers!!!! thumbup

Wouldn't it be hilarious if United offered Rodgers the earth to manage the countries biggest club .
Not bored of this one yet?

On another note, where has all this talk of Moyes or whoever else being given £100M to spend by the Glazers in the next transfer window, come from?

Moyes will never be accepted as the man in charge until old Red Nose stops appearing at every match. The Kingmaker is clearly still a very powerful figure at OT and he will try and keep Moyes in the post.

Every United game shown on TV, and that's all of them, pictures are shown of Fergie in the stands, directors box, having lunch overlooking the pitch etc etc. Moyes should tell him to bugger off out of the picture and leave him to it.

Very true.

And letting him have any say in his successor was a folly too.

Saf is a director. Moyes perfomance reflects on him as much as anyone.

Much as I would love to see Moyes stay he should be gone asap, no passion no drive no tactics.

Well, according to his Tuesday press conf - see BBC website, he's going knowhere for now - six-year contract he said ... long term etc ...

Dave, me old mate, the decision might be out of your control ...

I think he won't get sacked if they lose in the CL - not even if they get reamed next week by Citeh - which most expect to happen.

I think he'll go at the end of the season, even possibly on health grounds ... he must be a man of conviction cos if he read the papers or the 'net he'd be hanging from a tree by now ...

It'd be a shame personally for him but he just has no pedigree at the top level. Ferguson fked up picking someone in his *own mould* - dour, hardworking Scot who had served an apprenticeship blah blah. You've got to be a winner and frankly, Dave ain't.

I remember back in 1990 all the City and Liverpool fans I worked with taking the mickey and praying for Fergy not to be sacked.
Back the, it was clear to the Board that Fergy knew what he was doing and the internal work with the youth side etc.
I don't know the time round. Moyes hasn't had much time to show anything other than its too big a job.
I've seen really good managers in industry get that one promotion too high and be completely unable to cope with the added pressure.
I see the same thing in David's eyes now.
PS I don't mind being wrong. The game will be over by the time I get through passport control tonight.
Not looking forward to the first text message.

For me, the biggest issue isn't should/will DM go....

....it's who on earth you get in to replace him?

Can't see it myself.

No point in sacking him now as there's nothing left for United to play for.
You could argue that a new manager could come in and get a feel for the team ready to hit the transfer window and the new season running?

The opposite argument is a new manager now has no chance of making any difference to the outcome of UTD's season. Moyes' speech & body language lately though gives the impression of a beaten man. He sticks to the script in the pressers but his appearance gives him away.

In truth, there is no season to be salvaged. 7th or 17th is less important than building a better team for next session. Pre-season starts in July after the World Cup. The Board should be looking ahead.
I do agree that DM looks hapless. An unconvincing leader.
