We need him because Friedel is 43 and doesn't provide Lloris with any competition at all. You need to have quality back up in all positions.

Also, Levy is obviously very aware that we have one of the top 3 keepers in the world at the moment, so there will always be the threat of him leaving.

I can fully understand why we & Levy would want him, i'm just puzzled by the fact that Vorm is willing to not play regular first Xl premier league football.

At the end of the day he is a keeper. And if PSG or whoever want to bid £30 mil or something stupid then you have to sell him for that sort of cash. Levy and Vrom know this is the case and are happy to proceed.

Because he won't be for us either next season.

He was poor last season and we have just signed Fabianski who must have been given assurances he would be number 1 keeper to leave the comfort of the Arsenal bench.

So good pay-rise to sit on your bench, play some Europa and cup games, and hope Lloris decides to leave (PSG presumably).

So you think it would be much better management by Levy if he was not to buy another keeper and we just play the whole season with Lloris & Friedel?

If he doesn't buy anyone it's because he's cheap, tight and can't see the bigger picture but if he does buy someone, it's purely a ploy to sell another player and therefore he's small time

Every Prem club has 3 keepers in the squad. You don't expect Lloris to play every game? Even in the EL? What if he gets injured or has a drop in form? Surely you want another keeper pushing him and keeping him on his toes? Friedel has been retained purely as emergency cover and more likely due to coaching/mentoring/experience.

Lloris may well be sold next year - everyone has a price. However, can you not conceive of any reasons why Vorm might like to leave Swansea, to join Spurs, on more money, better players, better facilities, more guaranteed game-time and live in London, other than the notion that he is doing so in the belief that he will be no.1 when Lloris sold next summer?

Lets wait until we have taken 2 points from 8 games before we drown in negativity

Vorm and Davies both confirmed with Sigurdson going the other way. Must admit that I wasn't sure why Vorm would leave Swansea but I hadn't realised that Flappyhandski had signed for them, I guess it's better to fight for a place at Spurs then it is at Swansea.
