Schinderlin is a very good signing, signing rodrigez is completely mental.
Brave from #SaintsFC chairman Ralph Krueger. Admits he met Spurs in Toronto but says neither Rodriguez or Schneiderlin will be sold @bensmithbbcMaybe not nailed on

Yep, I wouldn't be happy either. If he's prepared to do that at Southampton he'l do it at Spuds too.
Like JC says - who cares, players are not these angels some fans like to imagine -If he leaves spurs in 3 years to a bigger club after performing to a high standard , so what? thats life, thats football...

I'm uncomfortable with this Schneiderlin situation; it's all getting very Modric-esque.

I guess we'll never know. I expect that there is a level of skull-duggery involved with most transfers.
The fact that the chairman has come out and said the player will not be sold, rather than the manager (RK maybe quite happy for him to leave), suggests a face-saving exercise by the board after all the bad publicity.

It's nothing to do with having an inflated expectation of what players ought to be. It's that if a player is going to be that unprofessional and public about his problems with the club, he could cause a negative atmosphere in the changing room at Spurs.
If one of your top players is banging on about how st the club is to anyone who will listen it's going to affect the other players. Yeah it's all fine when it's someone else's club but I don't remember anyone saying "ah well, players come and players go" when Modric missed training and no liked the chicken badge publicly. It's not the departure that's the concern.

Because the question I would always have is how committed the player is on match day, that would always be a doubt in my mind. You want good footballers and yes they tend to be transient, however there are ways to do things and spitting your dummy on social media isn't one of them. It just comes across very mercenary for me. Then again, if you're happy with that go for it!
These are people in a job, providing for there family....If someone offers you an extra 30-50% of your salary and the opportunity to improve your skills are a better business would you not want to go??
Its not a case of spitting your dummy out, they are playing at there peak for 10 years(roughly), who is a club to stop them from improving and earning more money... at the end of the day if Southampton were not happy with him they would get rid in a matter of moments....
Just like Agger with us, Loves the Club, has YNWA on his hand but seems surplus to requirements so is put out for sale.... it works both ways...
We dont like it as fans when a player does it to us but its reality and in most cases these are foreigners with no real connection to your club.
It's a good point Robbie, but you're assuming players aren't by & by a bit thick. I've always cleaved to the view that boys who spent all their time at school with a ball on the end of their foot & staring out the window while everyone else was doing trigonometry aren't usually the brightest. The pro's I've subsequently met tend to bear that out.
