Why wasn't Fazio or Davies in the squad? Fazio is 6ft 5, captain of Seville, played well in midweek and loses out to the chuckle brothers of Kaboul and Chriches? Whats was wrong with Vertonghen? surely if he is fit he gets a start ahead of those two?

We are so slow and predictable in possession. Need to move the ball a lot faster from defense to attack. All teams need to do is sit back as we won't create anything.

Paulinho is shocking...can't even make simple sideways passes. God knows how he has over 30 caps for Brazil.

These players need to step up. So many excuses have been made for them.

I'm not sure why Kaboul was made captain. Has looked a shadow of hie pre-injury self, but means he's first choice in the managers eyes. Partnering him with Chiriches is just a liability (I think he'll be a decent back-up), and needs time to develop.

I'd like to see Dier in the middle with Vert, but that can't happen until there is a RB fit who isn't called Naughton.

As is I'd play

Dier - Fazio - Vert - Rose or Davies

Well that didn't go as planned laugh

As for the footie itself, I find it pretty worrying that someone can look at vertongen, Fazio, Ciriches, Kaboul and pick out the last two as the better players.

I also find it worrying that we are relying on Adebayor upfront he quite literally only plays when he can bothered and is far far to lazy to play upfront on his own.

Erickson also looks lost in this new formation which given he is probably our best attacking player is also a major worry.

Right im off to turn myself into the NSPCC.

For the first time in my life I have completely lost interest in watching Spurs (even prior to that game).
I don't understand our tactics, selection or purchases. I don't understand how we can fail to intil not a single ounce of pride in players that are earning £1m+ per year.
We have spent 2 seasons spending a shed load of money on average utility players that look like they belong at a premiership survival club.
Other than Lloris (best in premiership?) I feel we do not have a top player in any position on the pitch. One game in 4 Eriksen looks good but most games we look average at best in every single position. I thought Vertonghen fit that bill but can't get in the team.

If Levy came out and said he had saved £200m and could buy the stadium, then I would completely understand, but he hasn't.
Just more average players being bought on a lesser budget than anyone.

As a Spurs fan you're used to having zero expectation but what we always used to take for granted was mediocrity with flair. Entertainment. Where's it gone?

This is the key, we operate with net window after net window I cant think of another club in the league that operates like that and when it doesn't work the coach gets the sack.

This summer was a joke, the newly appointed coach wants a £25m Schniderlin and gets a £4m Sombolli, he wants a £20m Musacchio and gets given a £7m Fazio. Exactly the same happened to AVB, its like doing the job with one arm tied behind your back.

And yet it seems that Levy is never held to account, where is all the money? where is this shiny new stadium that I am supposed to be sitting in THIS season? When does the responsibility move form all these managers he keeps sacking and become his?

I really hope the Cain Hoy buy out has legs. Levy is far to small time for a club the size of spurs.

Indeed Ascay. I have just looked at their accounts up to June 16th 2013 and they have a whopping 5m in shareholders funds of the back of 4 out of 5 net transfer windows.
So even though they are not spending any money on players they don't have any money.
Where is it going? Ignoring Chelsea and ManU I would estimate that premiership revenues afford approximately a £30 million per season spend (particularly given our modest wages). So 8 years of not spending should make us extremely cash rich and yet we aren't.
WTF?

Here's something interesting. My disclaimer is it could be bks but I don't see the motivation of making it up, but take it how you will:

A friend of mine works for a company who are involved with a chap who is doing his PhD in something sports science-esque and he's doing it at Spurs. The guy's PhD is using GPS tracking on players to develop fitness by plotting speeds, distances, times, HR and so on.

Apparently Poch has become interested in this guy's work and has been using the data from the first team's training sessions. From these reports, Vertonghen is doing poorly and doesn't put in enough work. Allegedly Poch called him into his office to ask him how he thinks his training is going and Vertonghen said he thinks he's doing well. Poch showed him the data and has dropped him until he increases his effort.

Indeed I have been saying this for some time, especially since the new TV deal where every club got an extra £30m odd.

Where has it all gone? because its not going on players and Im still sitting in the same stty stadium...

Its an enigma. I don't know much about accounts and I can't see the parent company Enics on my system so perhaps Enic holds the money to release come stadium purchase?
Although actual public announcements by Spurs suggest there isn't any profit.
I don't know.

It could be but it would definitely make sense. Every time you see decisions like that there is something behind the scenes that you will never hear about. There is always a reason and your one you could imagine perfectly

I'd love to see the data on Adebayor.

Saints fan... go easy.....

Do you feel that your team is better or worse than last season?
Has Poch made a -ve or +ve impact and do you see him staying as manager?

I ask because I was talking with a Spurs fan earlier today and they thought that you would be top 4 this season and that you would finish above Liverpool, Man Utd, Everton by many points.

Its far to early to say yet. That said I really want him to explain why he has made Kaboul captain as he's a shadow of the player he once was and is probably the worst of our four centre backs, if he honestly thinks Kaboul is good enough to start every game then I think we have cause to worry, naming Adebayor as vice-captain I assume is a joke where I just haven't yet understood the punch line.

As for finishing top 4 I don't think anyone other than levy and your mate seriously expects that.

Captain Kaboul is a mystery to every Spurs fan I've spoken too. If we play like we did yesterday for the rest of the season will struggle to finish mid table.

Talk of changing the manager is silly, give him a couple more weeks ffs.

Could agree more.
We literally haven't got the players for him to do anything special with. You can grumble about the odd selection but he can't turn straw into gold. Not many managers would get those player into the top 6 I don't think
