My god we were bad. How we won I still don't know.

Verts and Kaboul have no defensive connection at all. Our full backs cannot defend. Eriksen seems to be running in treacle recently. Capoue offers very little in the way of defensive cover and Ade is just a passenger.

We have a situation where either the managers "system" he is known for has been abandoned or he is trying to play that way and the players are unable/unwilling. Both are worrying!

Apart from that everything is fine.
Pretty much agree with all of this. We were shockingly bad.

Soldado plays so much better as a False 9 with another forward in front of him - shame yesterday it was Ade. Loads of us have been saying that for months but I hope Poch starts playing Kane up top with Bobby just behind.

Kaboul has to be dropped. He is making huge mistakes every game.

I worry Dier's lack of experience would be exploited to buggery and back. I think Fazio needs a good run in the PL, he's experienced and was excellent pre-Spurs.

I agree however I can't see poch dropping the guy he has just made captain.

It's all very worrying.

I'd rather have Dawson back.

I recorded the game but after seeing the highlights I might give it a miss. I wonder why we are so boring and st. I get the feeling nobody wants to make a mistake.
Our team included Rose, Naughton, Kaboul, Chadli, Mason (our 12 year old),Adebayor and Capoue
There isn't a single ounce of flair or pace in the whole team. When Eriksson is having one of his regular stters then there is just nothing interesting to watch.
Despite fluking a win against a st team who haven't scored for 5 games previously - I maintain that those players form a mid-table team. That lineup should be that of one of the newly promoted teams, not of Spurs IMO.

Anyone hear the Spurs fan on 606 last night.

Said that Kane was the next player he had seen at the Lane since Teddy and that Lamela will be better than Messi.

This was followed by another Spurs fan blaming everything on Levy.

Admittedly Kane looked like a breath of fresh air when he came on.
I keep maintaining optimism for Lamella but he has the odd exciting game against weak opposition and tends to be obsolete for the next two or 3.

Even if the fan had a point and those two will be great players, they aren't currently and they are the youngsters who should be playing the easy games for experience to rest our first team players.
In fact that describes the whole squad.

For me, Lamela is some way off being a top player. Chadli is far closer both mentally and physically. In terms of build and height he's very similar to Ronaldo and Bale albeit without the pace that comes with their physique.

That's what I think. Soldado is a great all round player and apart from his touch in front of goal I think he has great vision and puts great through balls in all the time. Ade's clown shoes keep fking that simple stuff up.

I still like Lamela. I think with a bit of meat on his bones he could be a great player. I just think he is too scared of making another mistake and getting booed by the folded arm faithful at WHL.

What ever happened to that we signed from Southhampton? Injured?

Soldado fits the system better. Faster link up play, gets others involved more. Adebayor always breaks moves down. So unless he scores he offers pretty much nothing else.

Lamela needs to stop dithering...he ponders for a split second too long when in possession and hence loses the ball more than he should. But I think that is a confidence thing.

Also, he does ZERO defending. Problem with that is that Poch's system requires everyone to press and as he doesn't do that it leaves Rose massively exposed. Lamela will do best when he isn't given a job to do...as in just allowed to roam like Bale did in his last season with us.

That Welsh lad (names escapes me) needed 3 full seasons before he realised his potential, so I think we'll have to wait until next season to see if Lamela can be the player he promises to be. That means that he needs to be played as much as possible. The EPL is so fast, you don't have time to think - passing needs to be instinctive and that only comes from experience. Whether the fans/board will give Poch time to bed player's in, is a different matter. In the long run, it would we would be wiser to write this season of with regards to league expectations and treat it as an extended training session for next season.

That means giving the youngsters's a chance - Kane, Lamela, Mason etc without the pressure of results and not worrying whether the big earners are dropped or not. Also, work on the formation and tactics. Problem is that results really should be secondary to performance/progress but it seems that no one has the patience.

and he's not even scoring goals at the moment.... plays back to goal, awful first touch, and fails to pass.... i agree, even if soldado is not scoring, his link up play puts him ahead of ade IMO, and i've been to a lot of the midweek games recently to see first hand.
