I wonder if Abe has a when he's fit he plays clause, it's common in loan deals as you want your loanee to gain experience/match fitmess, he came to us as a loanee, did his agent manage to negotiate it onto his contract using his wages drop as leverage?
I can't see any other reason for his ongoing inclusion ahead of Kane.

I can't imagine that would be a thing. If it were he'd just be on the bench or play in Europe. I don't even remember him playing in Europe.
