You obviously do, you brought his wage up in a Spurs thread?
We were comparing the goal king Kane's wages to Sturridge's wages & the vast amount of difference , i Just can't believe you pay such an ordinary footballer that much that's all I'm allowed an opinion surely even on this thread .

I just simply said he was worth it if he was fit and that he wasnt on 150k flat (from what I have read)
And its quite obvious Kane will not be on his current wages for long - so pretty silly comparison as its his first season as no1 expected what he is doing now
For a few seasons now in the Premiership, few if any players are justifying the increasingly silly amounts they are paid. Yes paid, I was careful not to use the word earn. A sharp lesson which those paymasters in the Clubs should quickly learn from but, little evidence any have done so.
An adjustment must come otherwise there will be a steady increase in the clubs struggling to make ends meet and not only in the PL. Sooner better than later. For the long term welfare of the game ay all levels in the UK, the adjustment cannot come soon enough to stop the steady decline.
The up and down, blow hot then cold inconsistent form of even the top teams in the Premiership confirms that even the really rich clubs cannot always buy success. Just occasionally. That inconsistency can provide entertainment though for the neutrals. Oh how I wish that having given the Premiership leaders a good two goal start within a few minutes of the kick-off, it was Hull that scored the decisive fifth goal. Despite the fact that London born me, prefers to see London clubs succeed against all others.
When the final whistle blows on this season, there will be nineteen losing teams in the PL.

Yeah remember that coming out - Everything else is newspaper speculation.
No doubt these days if one came out for Liverpool the 'BONUS' section would be a lot higher x

"The case for bigger incentives might seem obvious - they'd motivate players more.
But there is a case for lower incentives. There's the Yerkes-Dodson effect, which says excessive motivation can lead to worse performance - a fact corroborated by some cunning economic experiments. And high incentives might lower team morale, if players' disappointment at losing money causes them be become more critical of team-mates' errors. "

Which,as the blog states might not be such a good thing:

its not as if they are on £250 per week - I think 80/90k a week with incentive to earn 130-150k is quite appealing to anyone "The case for bigger incentives might seem obvious - they'd motivate players more.

Ryan Mason has been called up to the England squad, fully deserved too, he's been the engine in the team this season.
What a year for the young fella , Is he replacing Lallana ?Fair play to him he's done well, great to see young players come through any of the top clubs systems & go on to represent their country. Refreshing to see players like Mason that obviously just wants to play without all the greedy bks that goes with being a greedy modern day footballer that so many just seem to be these days.

Sturridge is out of th England squad. I hope to see young Kane make his England debut on Friday.
I think Kane would have started regardless of the continual Sturridge pull out saga. Will be a very proud moment for him & his family.
I think most of us long suffering spuddies just hope he gets througn the game without an injury. He has certainlty been the brightest spark of the premiership this season. Wonder if he will win the PFA footballer of the year ? you would have to think another 6 goals or so it must be nailed on. Good luck to him.

I really hope he doesn't pick up an injury. He's single handedly dragged you up to the dizzying heights of 6th.Blib said:
A whole one point behind you. You must be proud after wasting investing all that money. When will you be nicknaming Sturridge, "sicknote"?
I refer the honourable gentleman to the wages table posted yesterday. You're 6th, and are 6th. We're 5th, and are 5th. So we've got exactly what we've paid for. The miracle was last year, outperforming our spend. That'll be the exception rather than the rule.
How did you get on after spending the Gareth money btw.

How's the Sterling negs proceeding? What a scamp, eh? He's done nothing yet demands £150k a week.

We're doing OK, thank you. Quite content. I doubt you'll find many, if any disgruntled fans. The future looks bright. We've a new stadium to be built and a core of exciting, young English players.
I'm glad to hear it old boy.Blib said:

Yoof of today innit. Want it all and want it now. Will we pay? My gut says we'll end up settling somewhere in the middle, about 120k. Which is fking ridiculous of course. However all the agents have their greedy eyes all over the telly money haven't they? No chance of ticket price reductions for the fans, it's all going to go in the player's pockets.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
