Looking very likely that Paulinho will be first out. Hopefully he's the first of 7 or 8.

£11M they say , jeez thats a good price for him.

You can fully understand our Daniel's recent reluctance to go mad after getting our fingers burnt with the Bale money.

Hard to believe Baldini is still employed by us TBH

just ,Ade, Kaboul, Capoue,Townsend,Lennon, Soldado,Walker & Chiriches, to shift. I'd offer them as a Job lot for Mr Rodgers for around £250M , he's dumb enough to take them i reckon .

As much as we as fans like the shiny big name signing, I think I'm preferring the way Poch is going about things. He seems to be buying players he thinks he needs to fill position.

So far a RB and a CB have been signed. Both areas of trouble last year.

Hopefully gone are the days when it seemed every day Spurs were linked to every midfielder in world football!

There'll be no big, shiney signings.

As said, I'm quite glad about that. There aren't many of those that have ever turned out well at Spurs. The vast majority of those that turned in to big players have come in relatively quietly and been developed by the club.

Just look back at the seven that came in with the Bale money. Lots of fanfare around Paulinho, Lamela and Soldado. The best out of the group are Chadli and Eriksen.

Pretty much agree with all of the above, rumours are that Juve are in for Lamela & we are close to signing that Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka .

We definitely need some pace in the side. i'll be happy with the two we have got already with Konoplyanka & a new striker

All about the defence for me. We shipped more goals than Hull and as many as Burnley and they were relegated!

So Trippier is much needed cover for RB. Ship out Chiriches. Dier can revert to CB, with Wimmer too as cover. Hopefully we'll sign Toby Alderweireld to partner Verts and if we can get some consistency in selections, we should be able to cut out a lot of the stupid. soft gift-goals we have been so guilty of the last couple of seasons. All bets are off if Lloris goes of course.

I reckon Soldado will stay, as I think he'll get goals if we have more creative players like Carroll, Pritchard, Alli, Trippier etc playing. Lamela - I think they'll listen to offers over £20m but I doubt there will be any forthcoming.

At least this season we should see Poch with the players to enable him to play the formation and tactics he wants. Then it's time to judge.

The usual suspects need culling.

Agreed, and for all of the attacking that Poch's Southampton team was noted for, they had a pretty solid foundation with the back 4 and then Schneiderling and Wanyama playing in front.

teacher Yes but he was half way through a 4 year contract, so his actual balance sheet worth, once original transfer fee has been amortised, is £8.5m. Therefore we have just sold him for a £1.3m profit yes

hehe

Lest we forget....

Still, the Gooner's showed their genius by not signing him:

And signing him instead...

Yep but he was st...glad to get a decent chunk back for him. That fee has paid for the summer activity already.

So the clearing of deadwood seems to be well under way.

Paulinho gone, and now Holtby to Hamburg on a permanent deal.

How do football finances work re player values.
Say Spurs buy a player for £50 million - does he go on a balance sheet as a £50 million asset?
If he then turns out to be st and not worth a fraction of that like every player we ever buy, when does that asset value get reduced?

He'd go on for 50 mil. Then depending on the length of his contract it gets reduced every year.

So a 50 mil player on a 5 year deal is 40 mil a year later.

It's why TECHNOPUG was joking on the previous page.

I think football clubs/companies employ a 'special' form of maths/accounting.
