Fingers crossed, i've lost all hope that he's going to be good for us. Shame really.
Unfortunately same for me. It's not like he hasn't been given a chance. I'm even at the point that I'd rather Lennon was playing ahead of him! At least Lennon does the defensive work even if he can't cross a ball to save his life.
Lamella has been our biggest transfer disappointment since rebrov, I was delighted when we signed Lamela he looked top notch and chose us over a number of other clubs, I was convinced he would come good but he is just getting worse and worse so we need to cut our losses whilst we still can and flog him back to Italy where he is still relatively well thought of. Son looks like a direct replacement for him.

So we are still no nearer actually signing a centre forward which has been our No 1 priority all summer, judging by the west brom chairman's comments it appears that Levy is playing cheapskate again. its like last year and Schnederlin all over again

DL - Mr Southampton chairman I see you are conducting a fire sale id like to buy Morgan Schnederlain
SC - Yes we are Mr Levy, his price is £25m
DL - Ill give you £10m and a further £5m in equal instalments over the next 26years
SC- No, the price is £25m
DL - Ok you got me, you are one tough negotiator ill make it £10.5m and a further £6m over the next 34 years if we win the champions league
SC - no, the price is £25m
DL - ok, ok, have it your way! ill give you £11m and a further £7m over 42 years if we win the Champions League and the World Cup
SC - Jesus this is painful, life is too short, you're to short!!! we'll just hang on to him until someone pays us his price

We buy Stambouli for £4m who quell surprise turns out to be st and 12 months later Manyoo buy Schnederlain for...yep you guessed it £25m laugh

So who will be this years cut price last min striker? and who will sign Berinho for the price we've been quoted this year?

I didn't think Berahino was an out and out striker...thought he was someone who plays a bit withdrawn. I just don't see Spurs paying massive money for a back up striker. The only club I can think of in the league that have are City.

Another one in!

We currently have a net spend of circa £17.5m in this transfer window!

Completed Ins - £58.3
Alderweireld (£11.5m)
Alli (£5m)
Trippier (£3.5m)
Wimmer (£4.3m)
Njie (£12m)
Heung-Min (£22m)

Id expect Lamela to go as well.
There is something quite depressing about that list of names. Really hope to be proved wrong but it looks suspiciously like we've just paid £60m for £20m worth of players.

He's an out and out striker. Liverpool have Benteke & sturidge Everton have Lukaku and Kone, Chelsea have Flacao, Costa and Remy etc etc

Most clubs have more than one Centre forward, we have tons of games more than enough to keep two happy. And lets face it pretty much no one had even heard of Harry Kane this time last year so to put all our hopes on one guy is ridiculous.

Right, but all of the clubs you mention, plus add Utd haven't paid big money for their back-up/second striker.

Liverpool - Sturridge (12 mil)
Chelsea - Falcao (Free), Remy (10 mil)
Everton - Kone (5 mil)
Utd - Hernandez ( no figures but rumoured 6-8 mil)

The only exception I can see is City who paid big money for Bony.

There's just no way that Levy was going to pay 25-30 million for a back up striker. Sure he might get the Carling cup and early Europa league games, but Kane is going to start 40 games minimum (baring injury). Or would you prefer a big money signing coming in and Kane dropping to the bench?

I was thinking the same, top six it is then.

I'm hoping that Poch has had a big say in each of these signings. His record of bringing players on at Southampton is exemplary.

You both think we will be as 'good' as last year?
I might have this wrong but am I not right in thinking that for the second half of the season we were, at best, mid-table?
If anything I think we have seemed a bit worse than even that, so far.

All I'm hoping for at the moment is a win tomorrow and forty points at the end of the season. Fourth from bottom will suffice.

The thing is, it wasn't so long ago when that was the exact thinking for a lot of us!

Was it Poch? Or was it their scouting setup? They've hardly struggled to find talent since he left
