All I'm hoping for at the moment is a win tomorrow and forty points at the end of the season. Fourth from bottom will suffice.
The thing is, it wasn't so long ago when that was the exact thinking for a lot of us!London424 said:
Right, but all of the clubs you mention, plus add Utd haven't paid big money for their back-up/second striker.
Liverpool - Sturridge (12 mil)
Chelsea - Falcao (Free), Remy (10 mil)
Everton - Kone (5 mil)
Utd - Hernandez ( no figures but rumoured 6-8 mil)
The only exception I can see is City who paid big money for Bony.
There's just no way that Levy was going to pay 25-30 million for a back up striker. Sure he might get the Carling cup and early Europa league games, but Kane is going to start 40 games minimum (baring injury). Or would you prefer a big money signing coming in and Kane dropping to the bench?

Liverpools two man strike force = £44m
Chelsea = £42m + Falcao who will be on an absolute fortune
Evertons two man strike force = £35m
Ours = £0m
There is no saying that if we bought in Berahino he'd be second choice anyway its not as if Kane is established, he's not even got a years experience yet, plus they could easily play together.

This after Spurs have just spent money on two new players to play in behind Kane, on top of having Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela, Townsend, Pritchard, Alli already there.

Not boring at all (well not boring me anyway).
I think it's pretty obvious that there is going to have to be borrowing of some kind. No club is every going to be able to pay 400 mil cash. I'm just curious about is there a way of seeing if ENIC are taking money out of the club or not.
The simplest way (assuming ENIC is sole or majority shareholder is to see how profits are distributed - are they paid out as dividends (to ENIC) or re-investedI think it's pretty obvious that there is going to have to be borrowing of some kind. If Wanyama comes in as well then that's a pretty decent transfer window all things considered.
So you'd be happy with the window shutting and us just having one Centre Forward, what if Kane gets injured? or turns out not to be as good as we thought? Ideally I would like to see another Striker come in...but I don't think paying 25-30 mil on gamble is the way to go. I'd even prefer Austin at £15 mil.
