I'll give you Modric on that, but when Bale arrived he was ste.
Funny how opinions differ on that one. Southampton fans definitely take the credit for Bale, it makes their academy seem even better than it is. I'm with you personally, there is no substitute for top division first team football to mould a player.
He wasn't shire though, be fair!

Tottenham have appointed former AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri as Tim Sherwood's successor, according to reports in Italy.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport leads with a report claiming that Spurs have agreed a deal with former AC Milan head coach Allegri to become the north London club's new boss next summer.

Bit quiet in here lads, no chatter before the big game at the weekend? No discussion of Tim's latest quotes?
Latest from Tim said:
Asked whether he knows his best XI ahead of Saturday lunchtime's home clash with relegation-battlers Fulham, Sherwood said: “No. I couldn’t tell you.
“And I don’t know whether that’s good or bad. I have assessed the players more than anyone. I could not tell you the best eleven players at Tottenham.
“There are all so similar, much of a muchness regarding the same quality. I’m not sure there’s any hierarchy. Or whether any one player is better than another.
“Our two exceptions are the goalie and Adebayor. Christian Eriksen is getting that way inclined, you can’t leave him out at the moment.”
