I'm afraid that we will do a spurs personally. One thing that may prevent that is the fact that the majority have played in the prem before and played pretty well so fingers crossed. Is our first 11 much stronger so far with what we've bought in? We either play 433 or a 4312.
So far the back 5 is no better unless Lovren does come in. We still need a left back. In an area where we were really weak last season I'm not seeing enough so far.
The midfield 3 - Gerrard can rotated with Cann who will probably replace Lucas as a squad player. At best he's a squad player. Lallana is a first 11 improvement on a less mobile Lucas and so far a never quite good enough Joe Allen.
The wide positions or in the hole, last year we relied on Coutinho and Sterling. Is Laser better? His arrival at least means that we have 3 players for 2 positions now.
The front 3 of which one was usually Sterling/Coutinho. As the point earlier we now also have Laser to add to the mix.
We've lost Suarez and have Lambert and Remy. No way good enough so far. We need another quality striker that can be rotated with Sturridge and Remy that can play across the front 3.

Cann is clearly be eyed to play the holding role as Gerrard replacement or as a replacement for Hendersons legs if he gets injured/needs a rest etc.
while i agree he is more one for the future than a straight 1st team player i think he will be in the starting 11 more than you might think.

It's the front 3 that lacks depth (and only because it once had Suarez in it). Sturridge holds his own but won't be fit all season, we know this. The two wider positions have Sterling, Coutinho, Laser and Remy. my gut instinct is that there aren't enough goals there. I know we've got Lambert but he's just a plan B squad filler. I have no idea who, but we need another goal scorer in that front 3.
