Discussion
I think most neutrals would say this is a massive season for Liverpool. The strides forward you made last season shocked most people, even some within the club, and now you've found yourself in the UCL and quite, quite rich.
It will be interesting to see if you stick or twist this summer. The sale of Suarez was inevitable even without the biting incident but if BR doesn't buy big, I can't see you qualifying for the UCL next season. United and Arsenal will both be better than last season, City and Chelsea will keep on hoovering up the big signings and you'd think that Everton and Tottenham will also improve too.

Remy might be another Coutinho/Sturridge.
The last time we paid £8.5m for a striker was nearly 20 years ago. Let's hope Remy is a bit better than Collymore.I agree with RT surprise ,surprise, i think you need more quality than quantity,

We seem to be back in for 8 miilion for an average Bertrand rather than pay the extra 3 or 4 million for our number 1 left back target.
Extra 3 or 4 million? Try 12! They want £20m for Moreno.RT, interested to hear who you think we should sign as a striker?

I think a jaw dropping signing of a striker will happen, a blind man can see last season we were light up front but super man papered over the deficit, this season we need Sturridge and another Sturridge plus the back ups of Remy and lambo - so we are one main striker light.
any idea who? or suggestionsdesolate said:

You've got 70 odd million burning a hole in your pocket...take your pick! It seems Cavani is doing the rounds.
We still need a LB and CB - I would say they are more priority than a forward right now - scoring goals was not an issue last year... with or without SuarezDSLiverpool said:
I agree on the defence Si But we struggled to score in the last few games when we were either tactically sussed out or knackered - not sure which
I think the extra creativeness of Lallana and Markovic and finishing off Remy will also help that, plus Sterling will be even better this year and I am expecting a big year from the little magician....m3sye said:

I have to say Stoke signing Bojan could be the transfer coup of the summer. At £3m, I am suprised Rodgers didn't take a 'punt' on him. We are need someone who is bit different, who can keep hold of the ball, dribble and score goals. Bojan has all these attributes albeit has only really dislayed this early on in the Barca youth team.
We should have Origi, whilst more expensive also looks to be an exciting prospect.Other than Sanchez, I truly cannot think of one World class striker I'd have at Anfield. Cavani, no. Ibra, probably not. Balotello, no! The only person I think of would be Aguero, but no way would City sell him (to us).

I've just looked up Cavani on Wikipedia and apparently he has signed for AEK Athens for 60million euros You've got 70 odd million burning a hole in your pocket...take your pick! It seems Cavani is doing the rounds.

I don't think so...he's at PSG still. (Could be wrong though).
Sorry I should have added a too as I assume it is someone messing with WikiI can't see us buying Cavani, one of the reasons he wants out of PSG is because he is being played out of position, so don't think he'll come to us if Sturridge is going to be the man through the middle?
Like many others I can't see any world class forwards who are a) available for £30m b) will want to join LFC and c) will replace Suarez. We've signed Remy and Lambert who have both got good goal scoring records in the PL and I'm reasonably confident that they will make up the loss of (some of) Saurez's goals. After all, we had no problem creating goalscoring opportunities last season. What we will miss is Suarez's ability to make things happen and score extraordinary goals - but there are probably only a few players in the world who can do that. Look at Rodriquez, yes he had an amazing World up but Real Madrid have just spent 80million on someone who scored 9 goals last season! In the French league, which is weaker than the PL (no idea how many assists he got?)
I'd like to see us focus on the new LB and CB (and I agree with RT, if Moreno is the number one pick, then spend the money!) and maybe accept that we won't score 100 goals this season but make sure we concede a lot less!

As for strikers, whose out there that can play across a front 3 and put the ball in the net - both Bony and Balotelli will get goals but probably aren't suited to our system. But then I'd rather have either of these than Borini or Lambert as our plan B and/or alternative strategy. Last season we modified our system to put both Suarez and Sturridge on the pitch.
Falcao would cost big money but players like Jackson Martinez, Benzema, Mandzukic from Bayern and Rossi would all come in around 30 million.
There's players out there Jammy, we need to show some intent. Just because Sanchez snubbed us doesn't mean we should stop trying. What good is saving the money going to do if we don't use this opportunity to cement our place in the Champions League the season after?
