Our midfield 3 will probably be Gerrard, Henderson and Coutinho for a while. Be interesting to see if Lallana can actually force himself into our first 11.

Our team is taking shape it seems and finally there seems to be a correlation with our signings and the positions we need strengthening. With a fully fit squad and BRs preferred 433 what do people think our starting 11 will be? My guess
Mignolet
Johnson Lovren Sakho ????
Henderson Gerrard Lallana
Sterling Sturridge Markovic/Coutinho
My fear is I don't think there are enough goals there with just Sturridge. Last season
Sterling - 10 goals
Coutinho- 8 goals
Henderson - 5 goals
Lallana - 10 goals
Markovic - 5 goals
Obviously Gerrard will still get goals, maybe Remy will get a lot more games than being back up and of course Lambert will get pitch time and score goals.
It may even be that we see us playing a different preferred formation to get the best out of the players that we now have and go 4231 instead
Back 5
2 of Can/Henderson/Gerrard/Allen
3 of Sterling/Coutinho/Markovic/Lallana
1 of Sturridge/Remy/Lambert
Looking at that I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't buy another striker. I'd be tempted to buy a 20 million pound keeper, a left back and if we were feeling flush a long term Gerrard replacement.
Obviously the clear out includes Borini, Lucas, maybe Allen if we get another central midfielder, Reina, Agger and the range of fringe players that just won't get a look in. At the very least loaned out.
Think we all know that there's a left back to just come in before the season starts. Anything else might be a surprise position rather than the striker many of us were thinking it would be.

What's he been smoking?
Liverpool’s owner, John W Henry, believes the time was right to sell Luis Suárez and does not think the Uruguayan’s departure will have a detrimental effect on their chances of winning silverware next season.

The first bit is right in that he wanted to go and we got £75m, the second bit remains to be seen but is unlikely. He is giving a public interview so not sure what you expect him to say, "we are totally fked" ? You have heard of marketing and PR I assume?Liverpool’s owner, John W Henry, believes the time was right to sell Luis Suárez and does not think the Uruguayan’s departure will have a detrimental effect on their chances of winning silverware next season.

If you comment was just a tongue in cheek reference to £40m and a pound, I take it back, but I don't know why people expect anything other than rose tinted views in interviews

My fear is exactly that too. Sterling and Markovic will need to step up to the plate and bang in atleast 10+ each if guessing that Sturridge will get 15+.Sterling - 10 goals
Coutinho- 8 goals
Henderson - 5 goals
Lallana - 10 goals
Markovic - 5 goals
The main thing though is making sure we don't concede goals. We won't be able to score 100 this season so we can't concede 50.
Hopefully Sakho and Lovren do well as a partnership.
I know amongst the big deals you've been doing that this one has barely made the sports pages, if at all.
But we brought in a young defender called Jakub Sokolik in the summer after he was released by yourselves. Rafa Benitez bought him in 2009 but he only got as far as the reserves. A tough, uncompromising defender in the mould of Skrtel, he has impressed me a lot in pre-season and I think he will be one of the stars of League One this campaign.

£14.2m bid for Shaqiri? If that is true, would be a bargain.
But is another winger really what we need?

No doubt about Shaqiri's talent. Neither Coutinho or Sterling so far have been consistently good enough in front of the goal to be able to cut in from the left or right and score 15 goals each. Shaqiri has fewer goals in him than both also.
Maybe BR is just going for the 2 players in every position approach and we have our central striker position filled with Sturridge/Remy. The two wide positions are then Sterling/Coutinho/Markovic/Shaqiri.
At least its a plan. I'd hate to go in with Sturridge injured for any period of time but Remy might be everything we'd hoped for. We did buy him for a lot less than he's worth. If not for his clause I reckon he'd easily be a 20 million pound player. 26 league appearances and 14 goals in a crap Newcastle team. Think if he can settle he'll get us 20 league goals.
Signing of Shaqiri (if it happens) will probably be the last attacking signing.
