You have to remember wages too...yes Suarez was on £200k a week but that lot are probably on say an average of £70k a week ? So that's nearly £500k a week in combined wages so that's an extra £15mil a year on the wage bill which probably comes out of the transfer budget. Over the course of say a four year contract that's £60mil. Add's up!
Doubtful! I'd say an average of £50k a week! If that, Origi, Can and Lambert won't be on big wages at all. The rest of them, I'd be surprised if anyone was over £80k. Point still stands though, we've certainly added to the wage bill!

Reina, Lucas and Agger will have been on top wages. Johnson too. The extra impact on wages will be negligible. Of those mentioned so far only Lovren will be on the other side of 50k.

If anything if we get those players I mentioned sold then the wage savings will also probably be in a net profit, especially after the Suarez wage saving.

There is no financial reason that could be stopping us to signing who we want. If we don't sign a big name player it's because we chose not to. That extra 60 million mentioned is way off the mark.

If we get no more strikers in this window do we have the option of bringing the Belgian lad into the squad or is he definitely staying at Lille?

Liverpool have decided not to sign Loic Remy after realising he wasn't a Southampton player.

Too soon or a bit rubbish?

Jay Rod still available to sign when he is fit again smile

Must admit Im a bit suprised at the slightly "meh" attitude over the llama. He is the one signing I absolutely wanted as outside of Sturridge & Sterling he was the standout British player. And certainly alongside those + Suarez, Toure & Hazard as an outstanding player of the season. Put Sterling up front with Sturride then Stevie, Hendo with Coutinho & the llama either side and I will be a happy happy chap. Riki is a superb £4m sub/20 games a season buy.

Sky Sports reporting that the Remy deal is off due to Borini refusing to move to Sunderland, thus blocking the Remy signing..... Sources close to the player & Remy saying he didn't fail the medical!

Club sticking to the medical line, delay was due to getting second opinion .

Seems very odd we wouldn't buy a bargain Remy at 8 because of a Borini shortfall

Very short sighted of the club to pass up on Remy regardless of Borini sale. Ridiculous actually. It's 8m ffs.

All the reports I've just read say medical failed, and we will now pursue other striking targets.

There's no way a player that you have valued at £25mil (Lallana) will be on less than £50k. The transfer fee sets the bounds for the likely wage as much as what their old contract was for.

Can't see that being true - non of it makes sense.

Though I also can't see how Remy has played for so long in the Premier League but fails a medical with us.

I guess, but he's been fine for QPR and Newcastle - unless they have less stringent medicals than us?

The Internet seems to think he's failed medicals before. FYI the Sky story is coming from his agent. Nope, nothing wrong with my client, nothing to see here.

Makes more sense. Probably hence why he was so cheap in the first place. As RT said a couple of days ago, he really should be a £20m player given this summers transfer fees.

Wonder if we've just announced this now to distract from the Remy deal...
