Wonder if we've just announced this now to distract from the Remy deal...
It is a bit suspicious BUT we are playing in 30 minutes so there should be a lot of people who are still awake?Wonder if we've just announced this now to distract from the Remy deal...
Some people saying have we not signed Remy because Borini is dragging his heels?

Reina, Lucas and Agger will have been on top wages. Johnson too. The extra impact on wages will be negligible. Of those mentioned so far only Lovren will be on the other side of 50k.
There's no way a player that you have valued at £25mil (Lallana) will be on less than £50k. The transfer fee sets the bounds for the likely wage as much as what their old contract was for. I'm a bit lost now on what we will go for.
To my mind, we still need to look at
another defender - ill risk saying Micah Richards again
a Remy replacement - I guess Bony ?
And a 'creative'/wow/flair player to replace Suarez and take over a bit for Gerrard ... I would love to think that will be someone like Paul Pogba, but I can't see us doing that kind of landmark signing now... Would love to be wrong.

If the Remy deal did fall through because we failed to sell Borini, as claimed elsewhere, then our owners are clearly trying for a net spend of zero this window. Even if Borini stays, we'd have had 4 strikers in Sturridge, Lambert, Borini and Remy. That's not excessive at all.Wonder if we've just announced this now to distract from the Remy deal...
It seems the club would like us to think he has failed his medical. It is very questionable why this would be the case seeing as he's passed medicals before and finished the season strongly. Also, if he had a previous condition then surely we'd be aware of it and not bid for him in the first place? I first of all dismissed the Borini link but now I'm not so sure. We'll know the truth soon enough.
This episode is making me start to think that we're not as rich as most of us thought we were. If we don't spend on our first choice left back and also a 20 million plus striker its obvious that FSG are trying just to use the income from player sales to fund this summer's transfers. That would be a disappointment, especially after the new tv money and champions league income.

Can't see us missing out on an £8.5m player just because Borini wouldn't move. It would be more like us to buy Remy then loan Borini out to an Italian side and pay all his wages too.It seems the club would like us to think he has failed his medical. Mail on Sunday claiming that BR may go in for Jay Rodriguez once he's fit.
Good grief, this is getting daft now....
surely has to be a joke!Good grief, this is getting daft now....
If we don't sign a quality striker and left back then FSG have been found out imo. Oh its admirable a team living within its means, but our means this window was at least the Champions League income, the new TV money and probably over 100 million in sales. So far our spend is c90 million. There's no point spending in January if we're sat 8th and out of the Champions League.
