Refreshing to read the thread with just good decent footy discussion thumbup
You mean just Liverpool fans all agreeing with each other.

Personally i like to hear other teams supporters air their opinions about my club & a bit of light hearted piss taking. I guess this will happen less & less on here which is a shame because this thread was always pretty lively & funny at times.

Oh well

At the risk of getting involved in this st again, I don't think many fans in here will see it as a shame...

Not wishing for Gerrard's retirement at all as he brings a lot more to the game with his vision and passing, but still not 110% convinced of his capabilities as a sole defensive midfielder in our formation, he naturally takes risks due to having ability to pull things off others cannot - so might it be worth keeping Lucas at least to provide a bit of experience (whilst bedding in Emre Can) especially with all additional games we face this year? He's only 27 and as stated above, he was missed by us last year and has plenty of time to recover form, just needs to up his energy levels a la Henderson.

As for Johnson, he needs to go, get soooo frustrated watching him - seems to have lost most of his forward impetus and confidence and the amount of times he dilly dallied with throw-ins during our run in last year, he really seemed to break up the flow of our quick game.........funny as you would have thought his game would suit our attacking style but we really are carrying him.

Agreed re Johnson. He also seems to have developed (maybe he always had it but I didn't notice) a languid, relaxed style so when he gives the ball away (which he does a lot these days) or gets caught out of position he just seems to jog back at his own pace. There's no urgency to him and that makes his lapses seem worse - he gives the impression he's not bothered.

There must be more to it though, because he too has been very good for us in the past. I don't expect he'll have much chance to get back in now though.

Other than these two (and I'd like to see them turn it around), I'm really excited about the rest of the squad. On paper all of the additions look solid and if they gel I think we'll do well. It's great that we don't seem to be giving up on Falcao too - even if we don't get him, the determined pursuit we're putting in makes a clear statement of our intent to get back to the top table.

Didn't he have some 'time off' last year for no apparent reason? I recall BR saying something cryptic like he was out for an "indefinite" period - certainly not the player he was 2 years ago

Yes, I remember that. If nothing else Moreno's arrival might make him up his game again. We'll see.

I suspect its probably too late and Johnson will either be on his way, or be the one thing FSG don't like - a highly paid bench sitter.

Could end up finding himself 4th choice when Flannagan is back..

What I didnt like though is at the game Sunday fans were on him for anything - why do fans act like that - do they really think its going to help a player?

He will definitely be this. Hopefully they allow him to move on a free so he can get his golden handshake signing-on fee that he is obviously looking for and free ourselves of dead wood.

Other fans views are more than welcome, A little Bantz is welcome as is a little Ribbing when we get Mullered by someone.

Personal insults, Muck spreading and general Trolling isn't.

After all how would we have known Suarez was leaving if it wasn't for you beer

Probably best we move on. Don't want to be accused of baiting anyone.

Agreed but maybe there's a perception that he doesn't care - he's just there to earn his large pay packet. Whether that's true or not I don't know.

I remember our first season under Bob. It was seen as disappointing at the time - although probably not by anyone at the club. I remember the only thing we won that season was the Fair Play Trophy. smile

Big Sami's Brighton beat Leeds 2-0 at Elland Rd.

Teixeira who is on loan from us scored.smile

One of my Bob Paisley favorites.

"A lot of teams beat us,do a lap of honour and don't stop running. They live too long on one good result.I remember Jimmy Adamson crowing after Burnley had beaten us once, that his players were in a different league. At the end of the season they were."
