Liverpool Echo report James Pearce: Liverpool talks with Balotelli agent have reached successful conclusion. Player will now fly into UK this afternoon to begin medical.

Now I just need the news that Borini and Assaidi have left for 20 million combined. Add Lucas and Agger money and it would make it a very good transfer window, especially with Suarez leaving. Think we'll hardly have spent anything and saved on wages when the numbers are finally in.

I can still see us going on for Eto'o for a season whilst we wait on Origi finishing his year on loan.
Can't see Assaidi going now! Stoke signed Moses instead ! He wanted to much money

Super Mario's not gonna play on Monday night, according to the BBC.

Last season DS did well as defenders were all over LS, this season I was worried that he wouldn't get space but having MB on the pitch will draw defenders and give DS the space - astute move as its only 15% more than a Borini
I can't see Sturridge and Super Mario starting many games together to be honest. I think they'll be rotated as lone strikers. But I may be wrong.
In certain types of game I agree however we can "release the hounds" in others and its a great option to have for little real outlay (just risk). Remember all those frustrating days when we cant break teams down - now we have a nuclear option of B - L - S as a front three (I know never happen but what a laugh that would be)
B-L-S are all big lads too aren't they? Maybe we now have plans A-F.

Can't see two of Eto'o, Balo or Sturridge happy to be rotated.

The problem is, I think Balo and Sturridge need to be playing to get the most out of them. I think Balo will be a straight swap for how we used Suarez. I'd rather promote Peterson from reserves or have Borini as the last striking option. No point having Eto'o on the bench collecting £100k a week, he'll hardly get used.

Spot on. I would promote Peterson too. I think Borini will go.

BR's press conference not saying much about MB.

Looks like Markovic back in the squad for City game, Lallana training again but not ready yet.

Going to be some fight for places over the next few weeks - great!

Not surprising really given how Remy's 'transfer' to Liverpool went!

Are all the signings marked with an asterisk meant to have been a joke?

I don't think so. Joe Cole doesn't have one.

We've come on a bit since then... Must admit I'd forgotten about Jovanovic altogether!

Yes, things have certainly changed - they were all signed by Woy Hodgson weren't they?
Joe Cole cost us lots of money, despite being on a free

I thought Meireles was pretty good for us and we should have kept him.

Mind you I thought Roy was a safe pair of hands as well so that shows what I know

Me too - I remember talking to a non LFC mate who reckoned he thought Hodgson was the best to get too.

I also thought getting Joe Cole on a free was a great bit of business...

I always like him as well and it surprised me when we got rid.

Thankfully the days of 80s style static managers are behind us.

Shame Assaidi might still be here, no idea where he'll get a game. Never understood some people. Earn 30k a week and play football or earn a bit more and sit in the stands. Crazy decision not to choose to take a bit less and play every week. Most of us can only dream of having the opportunity.

He couldn't get out of here quick enough when Chelsea came sniffing.
