Yes but let's be honest if he had started Lambert today your keyboard would have been on fire !
1 up does leave Sturridge very isolated

Do me today just been very poor in final 3rd, wron passes, through balls not played when on, flicks not coming off, that and poor defending and tracking back

I hope someone has a word with Can. That dive was rubbish...

Thank God that's over!

Think the new signings looked ok, Moreno looked excellent apart from his error.

Idiotic - could have got a second yellow ( so should of Toure mind you for being late on Skrtel)

Early days but already very clear we can't play with Sturridge up front on his own. With Can and Lallana coming in I can see both Allen and Henderson having to fight for their place.

Coutinho looks lost with no one making any runs in front of him though Sterling has started the season brightly. I'd go 442 at Spurs. Play both Sturridge and Mario up front with Sterling in the hole behind them. As for the midfield 3 behind them. Gerrard, Henderson and Allen I think. Can looks very average so far.

And I don't care what anyone says, we need a new keeper. No idea what he was doing for their 3rd.

Hopefully Moreno is fit to start, and Johnson isn't.

You'll find I shared my concerns previously about playing Sturridge upfront on his own.

So what's our best attacking formation? Soton we got away with a poor attack, today we didn't - next Sunday will be interesting.

Spot on. Just hope Lallana is fit for the Spurs game and he replaces Allen. Permanently.

I thought Can looked stronger than Allen (not difficult, I guess) but he is going to be a booking waiting to happen this season.

Some team City have.
It's clear from looking at their squad and Chelsea's that they are favourites this year.
Will be happy for top 4.
Moreno good debut. Markovic looked good. Can being criticised playing against Toure, Fernando and Fernando Reges when we had 10 men.
Spurs away Sunday.

I didn't say u didn't
I just said if we had started with lambert today you would have gone mad! You don't think he should be anywhere near the first 11 and we don't have another striker until spurs so impossible for him to really change it!
We didn't play that bad today we just had to many mistakes and was not clinical in the final 3rd!
Those 2 ingredients will generally lead to a loss!

A Spurs payback most likely.

And that's why we need a 4th striker. And Eto'o would be perfect.

Look, it's the second game of the season. We have replaced a lot of our team & we have lost our best player. The new signings will take a few games to settle in, and we were playig away to the champions with a massively expensive settled squad. I don't think we need to panic yet, ten games in will be a measure of how we are doing compared to last season.

Didn't see the game as I'm on hols, but reading sky commentary we had a pretty solid first half let down by an individual mistake. Go down to City & you will struggle to get anything out of the game, as chasing the game just leaves you more open IMHO.

Not over the Moon about losing but I don't think there is reason to write the season off yet. Oh and welcome to Anfield Super Mario, now is your chance to become a legend!

(Incidentally who was the last Italian player we had that was actually any good?)

Both games so far have shown imo that we need to play 2 up front. Neither Balotelli or Sturridge can play all season. City have as their coming off the bench striker as Aguero today. As it stands all season all we'll have is Lambert.

who scored today

We do look better with 2 up front

can looked good and much more mobile than Allen,

Glen Johnson it's over, he was awful

One word very worried by our goalie, hart saved his chances when sturridge shot at him, mingolet just waves them in.all 3 goals like to have seen more from him. His distribution and postionimg is poor. Shame Renia has gone

Lambert has got us 1 goal in the 25 minutes of (normal) time he's played - better goal per minute rate than Suarez, wink

I think as most people have said this will be a season of building to get the players to gel. It will also affect us particularly in the earlier part of the season due to the way we play with the quick passing football - the players need to know each other well as to where they will be etc.

City played much better although for the first 30 minutes I would say we were on a par.

Good for Lambert to get his first goal.
