The elephant in the room is still SG playing regularly in a position where a good engine & fast pressing is needed. The defence is being exposed time & again by one pass or a quick 1-2 which is unacceptable. We're too vulnerable through the middle.
If he's insisting on SG starting regularly then Hendo or Can needs to start next to him

I love the way everyone's got the100% right opinion as if they're all experts and professional players/coaches could learn from their wisdom
Easy to sit on a forum spouting advice - very different on the pitch.
I don't understand your point regarding questioning managers and them being experts. In every sport you will get fans questioning managers and players. It's what is done.Easy to sit on a forum spouting advice - very different on the pitch.
Us mere mortals pick up on every mistake that they do

Having played that position and being just as one footed, his error wasn't really not using his right foot (though that would have been better) the main error was waiting for the ball rather than attacking it.
Seeing as you are coached from kids to move towards the ball and not wait for it to come to you...but then again what do I know.

I thought Can looked strong and able to look after himself in that midfield role. Gerrard positional discipline isn't good enough for that role, and that is what is costing us. Either play Can next to him or maybe its time to start leaving him out of the side.If he's insisting on SG starting regularly then Hendo or Can needs to start next to him
I agree individual errors cost us dear, but this was true last year, and same agin now, becomes a point when its a system.
I am not panicking but its the fact that
a) We brought in 9 new players who are going to take time to work out best 11, and then learn to play well together.
b) We lost our best player
c) trying to fix a leaky defence will take time.
d) Glen Johnson is the biggest ball watcher know to man, my god!
I have faith BR will get it right in the end but i can see a tough few months while things settle down.
Regarding Moreno - I agree that the issue was he was on his heels and was expecting Lovren to sort it out.
I think he did well but I thought he was carrying a bit of timber and could do with being a bit fitter.
(When I say timber - It's all relative but I thought both he and Can don't look as lean as the others.)

Emre Can is simply not fit, picked up a knock, I could tell watching him - looked 60/70% max to me.

The question is will it be a few months or a few seasons?a) We brought in 9 new players who are going to take time to work out best 11, and then learn to play well together.

I can foresee some difficulties BUT there is no doubt that the squad is considerably stronger than it was a couple of years ago.
Losing Suarez is blow as he has a "genius" factor that not many have.
It's a bit depressing to see the strength that City and Chelsea have. But I think we are now up there with Arsenal, Tottenham and UTD. Everton don't quite have the depth but are playing as a unit.
It's early days.
The price reported for Di Maria puts some of our purchases in perspective. If you want immediate top class you need to pay 50 million plus now!

Actually you're not. It depends on the other players movement.London424 said:

Actually you're not. It depends on the other players movement.Moreno will learn. That is the thing about potential - they will make a few more mistakes than the rest. But he looks like has the desire and the attitude to learn. Liverpool aren't going to win the title this year - but once these young players gel, the defence matures, we will have a side capable of challenging over the next couple of years.
